One can't be a bit more creative in S'pore.It would be clamped down. On the positve side,they nip problem in the bud -- such that they become unreasonable.

The TS mentioned about Town Council staff being high-handed .. yes, I agree .. I remember some time ago I posted in this forums that my town council did not clear my area everyday.. in fact for over a month, but they never failed to deduct conservancy charges in time ... I protested and refused to pay, they came knocking on my door.. They even got the cheek to say the law is provided that they are empowered to collect the charges which I must pay. They sent a lawyer letter to me and I lan lan pay up.. mean time the area was still not clean ... in fact now also never see them come sweep the my area for two weeks leow .. how I know I drop a flyer on the pavement and it is still not clear ...

They refused to acknowledged their service failure. Even mentioned something about we sabotage .. I told them I can picture and they say it is subject to abuse .. anyway, they just cannot be bother when I called them .. don't ask me to see the MP. I live here for about five years leow and the only time I saw him was during the election time and that was like a very far distant away ... sigh ...

how come from talking bicycle now becomes motorcycle? This are 2 different things,isn't it?

Actually if you look at the whole situation. Most of the time, there is not enough bicycle park at HDB void deck. Now with the influx of Chinese, there seem to be more bicycles around, so where can the resident parked? Walk up the various floor, you can almost see bicycle on every floor, so who created the problem is it in the first place ?

So far I've seen only one warning notice issued on that location.Furthermore,I'm not sure whether the notice was put on the bike on that location.Of course,I assume it was.

The threat of wanting to remove the bike to rubbish dump is indeed very highhanded.SMRT does it in a way similar to the suggestin proposed by Oxford Mushroom.

I don't think it is necessary to consturct bicycle park because a bike can be conveniently parked in many places.The main problem is theft.

Some cyclists park their bike in a lobby next to a staricase.There are some notice boards and a post box in the lobby.Last time,I saw there was a notice which requests cyclists not to park in the lobby and park their bike in bike stand.Recently,that notice has disappeared.If it was intentionally taken down,the management of the community library should be commended for being flexible.There are usually a few or several bikes park there and they don’t create any problem—sightly untidy look perhaps.

That's because the current stands' designs are too open and not secure enough. What is needed is a more secure design to ensure that bikes don't just get chained up by a single cable.

There was once my wife spotted a Chinese man with screw-driver and some tools at the bicycle stands working on some bicycles. My wife approached him and ask him if he was trying to steal the bicycles. He claims to be repairing the damage bicycle for free and say my wife is ungreatful that he was helping out. Then he quickly disappear.. later I found my bicycle seat missing .. don't related or not, but I think it is quite common that bicycle do get lost .....

In a MRT station,the management put up no bicycle parking sign soon after I parked my bike besides a wall of a verandah where human traffic is sparse.Then I parked in another wall,another no bicyle sign put up.Quite efficient but rather negative in attitude.Actually down there can park a single file of bicycles without causing any problem to pedestrains.

Firstly, i am strictly law-abiding, mostly because i don't intend to contribute more than my tax dollars to the gahmen. So it is highly unlikely to find me parking 'illegally'.

Secondly, i am a strong supporter of action, rather than signage posting and warnings. Drivers need to be given a taste of things to come, else indiscriminate parking will simply spill over and cause even more problems.

In fact, i prefer illegally-parked cars to be TOWED AWAY and a collection fee amounting to a fine be introduced.

People only respond when punitive action has been taken to discourage others, else the slimeball 'he did it, so can i' mentality will be allowed to proliferate.
