For all his bluntness, he has again exposed himself as a hypocrite, as well as throwing Singapore investments in Myanmar into basket.

As much as he will criticise the Myanmar Military junta as being inept at managing the economy, what was he thinking to suggest that the SAF should intervene in Singapore's political process - if ever an Alternative Political Party was to put the present Ruling Party into the shadow, and in the process access the National Reserves ?

As usual, the Old Man is at his best when using his characteristic double standards.

Branding Singapore ?

Putting Singapore in a better light, while turning the spotlight onto the blemishes that others have failed to conceal in this moment of their crisis - certainly does alot of help in 'Branding Singapore'.

Hhhmmm….MM Lee seems to have forgotten that we also like to put former military men in charge of the economy or into positions of economic power…take former CDF, LG Ng Yat Chung for example, who is now a director at Temasek Holdings….

I think it is necessary for a "leader" to be able to express clearly and explain position and state clearly Asean position if it is chairing the leadership from Asean.

While i understand it is not a SG position to stick out its neck on the chopping board. but it is necessary to communicate internationally our moral position. There are politically correct statement to be made that you don't go wrong on international television. After all if you are going to seat infront of global TV and be a leader. "Leader leads" People watch and follow.

Lee Kuan Yew is indeed a very smart man, one of Singapore's brightest. A national asset.

However there is something I feel not quite right about him.

That something is, he keep wanting to remain in power.

If u like to watch Chinese imperial dramas, you will see he is like a Grand Emperor, or Prince Regent.

Those kind of characters, reluctant to fully give up power to the new Emperor, so they pass power to new Emperor, but become Grand Emperor, or Prince Regent, so they can still wield power and influence things.

And also...

This interview if u notice, was done at 'Istana'.

'Istana' is a Malay word meaning 'Palace'.

Why is he having an office at the palace? Should be only the President who can be sitting at the throne of the palace.

This is something which bothers me abit about him. I dont know what to think of him. He is very very smart, very visionary, but....it would be 100% perfect for me...if he is more statesman-like, and fully transfer power. Then, I would admire him more.

Nobody can forced you to take a faster walk if you choose to crawl. But as a nation can we afford? If we walk slower, we wouldn't be what we are today. Just look around you - Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines. These countries are many times bigger than the red dot and have plenty of resources. Even if you have no job, you can rear a few chicken in your backyard and still survive!
I don't think you know what it is like to live in a very backward country. Maybe you have all the good things that you now take for granted. But I have been constantly reminded of how hard my grandparents and parents have to do to get food on the table.
Anybody who has a better idea to make my world better - I will call him god. Otherwise I will call him dumb!
