To be fair, as an Hougang SMC resident, I don't like this price
hike. Personally, I prefer no hike or a smaller hike.
On the other hand, I acknowledge Hougang TC's message that since
1991 when the SMC was won by WP, this is the second ever price hike
in its history.
In my case, the SC&CC charges for my 5-room increased from $60
to $63, a 5% increase. While the article wrote of PAP's last
increase was between 2% to 6% and lower than Hougang TC, I remember
about 3 increases from 2001 to date, including the one in 2004.
Hence, the percentage of increase of PAP town councils over the
period 1991 - 2007 may be higher than the 2% - 6%.
There's also a hearsay I can't confirm that PAP town councils will
be going for a big price hike before mid-2008. Let's wait and
see.
