Corolla 1.6 tyres

I have 5month old Corolla. When I bought the car the package includes a 14 inch alloy rim. So I assumed it should also come with a 14 inch tyres, which I guess should have the measurement 185. However, what I saw on the tyre is 175 and it looks it is referring to the measurement of 13 inch. Can anyone advise if it is possible for a 13 inch tyre fit into a 14 inch sports rim?

I am thinking of changing to a 15 inch tyre + rim as what I have been told that it offers better stability. is this true? Also can anyone advise what would be a good buy for a budget of < $1000?

Hi Zephure,

The 175 is not the size of your rim, its the WIDTH of your tyre, and the 2nd number is the thickness of your tyre. The R14 behind shows that its 14 inches rim, and if R15, then it mean 15 inches and so on..........

Sports rim supposed to stabilised the car better. Bigger rim will definitely give better stablity but chances are you'll suffer more fuel lose.

A budget of 1000 bucks? ermmmm really depends if you are looking at beautified the car of the performance........ guess a set of nice rim is good for you 1000 bucks.

yap brothers and leong (or was it liang?) seng. wide selection of imported rims. both shops at paya ubi industrial park. the 2 shops open side by side. when there's competition, the consumers benefit. Cool
