oxford mushroom SG Jobs should go to the most qualified person, regardless where he is born. The true Singaporean is one who adds to the prosperity of the nation, not the losers who rant about how they cannot compete with foreign talent. What kinds of positions? Well, what kind of skills have you got? Businesses need more than airbags whose only skill is whining at Sgforums.
reddressman SG Who are you to criticise people's right to say what they want? Your words. Who do you claim to represent? Official representation? You should count youself lucky your job does NOT face ANY competition from FT. Agreeing is easiest of all. To disagree requires some brains. just answer the outstanding question (from a sec 4 ) , long overdue: 1. What the kinds of jobs created. 2. Of these, how many went to PR and how many to Locals? I am confident you dare not reply me clearly and directly. I am waiting for your oxfordian reply. How oxford are you? Impress me. And please dun keep escaping from these questions. Face it bravely and confidently. Dun hide. Face the music. Even you had to admit ERP did not solve congestion problem. go through the various replies to you again. There are so many you cannot reply. Malu baluku man. I pity you. But you can never understand why I pity you. too oxford liao.
dragg SG mostly service line. the casino and formula one race will mostly generate service line jobs too.
Rock^Star SG You certainly speak with only tunnel vision huh. Whatever happened to your periphery? I do not know what gave you the impression that those who contribute in Speakers' Corner are airheads and 'cannot compete with foreign talent'. Many here are probably established professionals in their own right. However, I cannot opine the same about those medical officers who have served their NS dispensing rapidols to feverish patients and having to deal with malingering every other day. Dumb doctors we have these days huh?
reddressman SG Is high class prostitution (a.k.a escort) , assuming licensed one, considered a form of luxury /entertainment industry business? I mean if they get license like Geylang and if they pay tax its considered legal highclass luxury industry business right? I think luxury industry includes all things as long as luxury and lots of money involved. It need not be ethical.
Gazelle SG During our last rececession, I remember LKY mentioned that Singapore future will have to be more service oriented as mass productions are things of the past for Singapore due to lower cost countries like China and India. we should be glad that they have delivered what they promised.
oxford mushroom SG haha...the truth hurts, doesn't it? If you cannot compete, blame the government. If you won't work as hard as the foreigner, blame the government. If you don't earn as much as Durai even after his court cases, blame the government. When are you going to look at yourself in the mirror and see where the fault lies?
Lim Wei Ming SG The media says more jobs created and you believe them? I tell you, the media loves lying, full stop. As far as i'm concerned, its the same number of jobs from last year or last two years. In fact, fining jobs recently has been a bit tough due to some unknown reason. As a side note, I did notice a very slight demand compared to the past in the sales and sevicies sector. However recently, there has be an unusually high demand in the fashion / hair industry for hairstylist and those trade. Maybe its time to pick up a hairdressing course?
de_middle SG dear guys, if you cannot seem to find a decent job...dun blame the government. Start by collecting empty cans & cardboard boxes...can earn quite a lot....dunno where i saw gazelle mentioning that who are we to say they are poor

Lim Wei Ming SG Its entirely up to you or the forum for that matter to believe the words. I'm not sure you have been looking for a job recently or not. If you do, then you will see what I mean. It has not been much different many years ago. And I admit I job hop almost every month cause I just can't seem to find anything of interest.
Gazelle SG As you get older, your chances of securing your next job will be tougher because you lack industry knowledge and working experience. And eventually you will be coming back here again to complain that FT is talking away all the high paid job. My advice to you is to stop job hop because you are simply wasting your time away.
Lim Wei Ming SG Time wasting cannot be compared just like that. I have already did many countless jobs, too many to count, maybe three dozen. But I never once felt that my time was wasted. In fact, the only thing I felt that really wasted my time was that bloody two years of National Service. Add to that the ridiculous ten-year cycle of annual reservist. Nothing gets more lame than that.
