AndrewPKYap SG What President Bush and his wife (REALLY) thinks of the Singapore dictators (but did not say): "I want them to know that the rest of the world does condemn these actions of the ...... government, the harassment and jailing of political peaceful demonstrators, " Mrs. Bush said. "All these demonstrators want is for the government to be responsive to them. " "It's inexcusable that we've got this kind of tyrannical behaviour in Asia," he said at a joint news conference with Australian Prime Minister John Howard ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. "It's inexcusable that people who march for freedom are then treated (this way) by a repressive state. And those of us who live in the comfort of a free society need to speak out about these kinds of human rights abuses." No wonder that one was attacking Bush in these forums. Link: Bush on tyrannical behaviour in Asia
AndrewPKYap SG I would think that the PAP government themselves would have made him the offer to go anywhere in the world just to get rid of him. Political asylum is not what he wants, I think. It is his calling to change the state from a repressive one to an accountable and transparent one. It was easy to change the NKF to become accountable and transparent but you need martyrs like him to change a tyrannical regime.
the Bear SG looks like the clown knew and is milking this for publicity he's an undischarged bankrupt.. and it's against the law to travel.. he KNOWS that yet he does so.. politics aside, open and shut case..
Short Ninja SG No government in the world is fully transparent what more when the people endorse it.Some people and in this case most people are not ready for a change. The lame excuse is that there are no other political party worth the vote but the real reason is that the mentality of the citizens have already been formed and it will take a long long time to re-shape.One Dr Chee alone is not going to make a difference,The country need more 'chees' (kahuna))
AndrewPKYap SG Dr Chee, is using a technique that philosophers like Aristotle used, and that is to push the “idea” (in this case, illicit laws and the illicit PAP actions) as far as it can go to understand the full consequences of the ideas (and in this case, expose the full consequences of the illicit laws and the illicit PAP actions).
reddressman SG I think western civilisation generally would give Chee some credit and support in the name of democracy fighter. But singaporeans are cultured differently. We have never experienced a 100% western civilisation in terms of democracy. To be fair, we have our own democracy, which I also hope to see improvement. Singaporeans generally could not really appreciate or understand Chee's acts. Myself included. We think that he is almost like crazy. But as a human being who respect all views and prefer that all views be heard and debated, I also have some respect for Chee. He is definitely not perfect and so is everyone in the world. But he is contributing to singapore in his own way and only history can judge him. Singapore will forever remain what it is and even grow to become more of what it is today, like it or not unless.... People like Chee seems to be tackling the problem in an ineffective way. I would think to be more fruitful, both sides need to be able to sit on the table and have a nice discussion with maybe the whole world in a civilised manner. When the whole world is watching, both sides have to be on their toes. I know, this sounds naive and unrealistic but I appologise. I am not a great speaker nor bombastic one. I hope you get what I mean.
Short Ninja SG Put it this way.Your mouth is taped and each time it is removed you can only pick one of two choices ,To eat or to speak.Who wouldnt get TULAN?
AndrewPKYap SG sure, one Dr Chee is not enough but kudos to him for trying at his own expense... and if I may paraphrase a saying... he is looking for rewards "in heaven" meaning in an internal reward; self-actualization, that kind.
AndrewPKYap SG hahaha even in parliament one of them threatened Silvia Lim a woman parliamentarian... with veiled threats...
(human) SG The judges must not be appointed by PM(PAP) or any other party members to remain independence and impartial.
AndrewPKYap SG Yes that was when they issued the veiled threats to the lady member of parliament for exposing the dishonorable deed.
Daddy!! SG China is a communist country and yet all the western democracies invested in China like seow. What does that tell you ? wake up Andrew. still dreaming?
AndrewPKYap SG It does not tell me anything relevant to the discussion. You are still trying hard to provide entertainment? edited to add: other than you seem to approve of your government's barbaric behavior and taking Singaporeans money without reservations as long as it does not affect commerce. In fact if they convert all Singaporeans into their slaves, commerce will improve even more. You want to be a slave, that is your prerogative.
(human) SG When people can't differentiate unjust law or just law, thinking that obedient is always a form of good conduct. When unjust laws rule, they have turned from good citizens to slaves without knowing it.
Poh Ah Pak SG When people can't differentiate unjust law or just law, thinking that obedient is always a form of good conduct. When unjust laws rule, they have turned from good citizens to slaves without knowing it.This concept of disobeying "unjust" laws has been clearly explained in this film: Singapore Rebel http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8057768553173785296
