To day’s ST mention about the 4th Uni which was planned in 2002
by the commitee head by Peter Chen and he agreed to the setting up
of the Uni at that time but came another commitee on 2003 headed by
Dr Ng Eng Hen which later rejected the idea. Why the double
standard, one minister agreed and the other against it. If it were
built on 2003 now 2007, our students may be able to enrol into the
4th Uni by now, but unfortunately, many of our Singaporeans esp.
the poly holders who have enrolled in overseas Uni and subsequently
failed to come back and serve our countries, resulting brain drain.
The government prefers to let the brain drain occur by not setting
up the Uni on time and let the 20% foreign students to replace
those true Singaporeans who have served NS. Governements planning
was wrong, we can’t wait for boom time to build Uni and what
happens can they forsee 4 years down the road the economic
condition of our country ? It is not logical.
