i value your sentiments, because i also feel that way. however,
here are some questions for you
1) is there any way we can do to change this?
2) what will Singapore be like if we for the next election there is
a change of leaders? my point being, many people do say that the
other parties are rather inexperienced.
3) the mindset of Singaporeans are more or less set that there is
no way of improving our government, therefore, if really we have
the democracy we want, are we ready for it?
4) are petitions allowed in Sinagapore? for instance in
Switzerland, if the people are unhappy about a law or rule passed
down, they can collect signatures and fight back
5) is it true that due to duress that Singapore is a much safer
place? looking at other countries, having those mob protests,
doesn't it seem dangerous? my last point being, are Singaporeans
willing to stand up for their country and do that
i've been speaking to taxi uncles, our foreign "talents" (my tutors
and lecturers), many of them gave me very good answers, but
seriously, nobody wants trouble, including myself. put it this way,
i like the peace here, but it's kind of a high price to pay
and sometimes i feel the people up there are
getting more and more muddle head, thus asking to gain knowledge
and perhaps someday to exercise my vote wisely
