Seven_Dragon SG yes i have a lot... 1) Friend A and his wife migrate to Australia. He decides not to come back anymore. 2) Friend B's husband got a job in Australia. B went there with him and their baby BOY (less boy to serve NS in future). 3) Friend C went to USA for further studies (master) and plan to settle there with S$120,000 (still counting) 4) Friend D, a teacher, plan either to go China for further studies or go Canada to work (depend which opportunity come first) 5) Friend E, a PR, die die don't want to be a Singapore citizen after serving NS. He said no point... prepare to go back to Malaysia after he grows old. He said Singapore is not a place to grow old. 6) Friend F got a rich China wife. He plans to migrate to China in future to set up business. 7) Friend G got a rich Indonesia wife. He plans to go Indonesia to help his father-in-law to oversee business. 8 Friend H, I, J, K ..... (a lot) got Malaysian wifes. Their wifes still retain their Malaysian passport. IF singapore cannot survive, their spouse still can retreat back to malaysian for a living.... If some people still living in wonder wonderland, i got nothing to say... maybe their friends circle is not that big.... maybe all their friends work for government... so they don't know the outside world... don't blame them
hloc SG Don't we have enough ppl here who threaten to 'migrate' everytime something makes them unhappy..... duh....
reddressman SG Originally posted by hloc: Err.... unless WE as S'porean start having more babies.... like it or not, there will always be more 'NEW' S'porean joining us year after year. Why ..... because most of us are planning to move to another country anyway.... so, the Govt might as well 'plan' ahead and 'import' new S'porean now lor.... In some sad irony..... S'porean are leaving because they felt that they are not as important as foreginer...... and Govt have to 'import' more foreginer because S'porean are leaving..... And the wheels turns round & round........ The emphasis on FT is also because there is a huge demand for more headcounts, at least 2 million more. How many will not feel the competition from this additional 2.5 million? Even if you are marketable, this competition is still huge and real. As time pass, you get older. As time pass, more comes in. Happy holiday!
hloc SG Err.... if you already felt hard to make a living with a competition of 2.5M..... how could anyone hope to live in any country BIGGER than S'pore Happy Holiday to you too..... BUT I have to work on the 9th.... hehehe
Seven_Dragon SG good... you grow up liao... welcome to the real world... btw, they never complain or whine... they enjoy every night
Seven_Dragon SG lots of $$$ + great sex = no complain or no whine not enough $$$ + no sex = a lot of complain + a lot of whine so now everybody know why so many people whine liao... btw, this equation applies to global, not local only...
TYING SG I think the government have pinned their hopes too high on this foreign talents. Are they really sure that the economic profits that they are "capable" or raking in is enough to cover or balance for some other negative points such as loyalty and etc etc? I am not sure on how the majority of these coming to be PRs feels that they are really indebted to Singapore and hence, willing to place their future here. From what i heard from my friends whose parents have came here to work, they were mainly from Australia and some other western countries. They mention that they do not intend to spend the rest of their lives in this little country and it was only the benefits that drew their parents here. If that is the case, how we are we ever going to draw people willing to work for us rather than cultivating our own people and giving us the benefits instead?
Seven_Dragon SG if your roots are not here, how to grow here?? On the other hand, if our roots here, but people don't appreciate and keep urging us to pull out the roots and urge us to migrate to other places, how we can grow here??
reddressman SG At first look, you seem to have a point. Then, I think about it and disagree with you lor : Well, what u ignored was that all other countries are larger and this means more opportunities, more consumer market , more companies, more of jobs if you are qualified enough. more people in a tiny little dot compared to current density which is already quite dense, would mean more 'rats' running in the same race. Chinese idiom goes like this : monks many more, congee lesser to go around.
hloc SG True..... till you go there and find out that the locals will consider you as a foreginer.... and view you just like how we view foregin worker/expat/PR... etc. Everywhere is RAT RACE..... no matter how big the country is. Example #1 - The Big City somewhere is most likely where you want to go when you 1st migrate to another country. Any Big City in the World will have a larger number of ppl than the whole of S'pore..... U might have more opportunities, but also more competition. If you move to a small city with less ppl to compete with..... there will also be less opportunities. Example #2 - The whole of Indonesia is HUGH..... but most ppl will try to migrate to Java because that is where most of the good paying work will be. Will there not be more competition If the Village is sooo good..... why would so many ppl risk death and time away from family to earn a living far away from HOME Are there lots of opportunities The Most IMPORTANT thing to remember is how well you are ready to meet the challenge of migrating and start a new life If you go fully planned and willing to work VERY HARD for your new life..... succes MIGHT be yours. If you go over with the thinking that your new country will take care of you for free..... then U are truly MISTAKEN.....
