Bus & Train Fares Raised Because of GST?

last SG · 2007-08-02T10:45:26+00:00

Thanks for proving my point...... Those very people who is telling us to 'protest', boycott..... etc, are themselve NOT here to lead or face the consequence...

Gazelle SG

Have you ask your employer not to contribute CPF into your account?

mistyblue SG

The same old recycled reason these companies can use till the end of the world. Anyways, I have a gut feel the increase will be approved. Its a Private Monopoly which is an ultimate oxymoron.

Coquitlam SG

hmmm, i suddenly realize these characters are actually MIW in disguise..esp that gazelle

HyperFocal SG

In the first place, are employers ALLOWED not to do so?

Gazelle SG

YES. they put you as contract worker

maurizio13 SG

They probably are MIW in disguise, because whatever the government dishes out, they will agree 100%, no questions asked. Mr. Green

I bet ya, if they increase GST to 20% tomorrow, they will all say it's good because it will help the poor, helps Singapore to get more investments, it's fair, the government is always right.

Asswipes!

GST should never have been a cost increase at all because whatever GST the company pays, it can recover from IRAS.

These are all lame excuses for the ultimate shareholder (Temasek) in these companies to exploit the life savings of ordinary Singaporeans.

Another year and another fare increase......

Another thread, follow by some more 'pointless + useless' debate.

Lets face it...... we can Cry father Cry Mother till the cow, goat and (China) chicken comes home. In the end, we all know that the fare will still go up. We could sit infornt of our PC and insult each other till we are blue..... calling each other MIW or anti-Govt...... still the Fare will increase.

Word of advice..... accept this fact of yearly price increase.... or move out to your 'Land of Dreams' in some other countries. After all is said and done here. Nothing will change...... the same ppl who suggest we should do something will never be brave enough to lead the way..... those who say nothing is wrong will also not get a discount while taking bus or mrt.....

So What has change.....

Seven_Dragon SG

we can only whine here

maurizio13 SG

Yah.

When we start whining, others will whine that about our whines.

hloc SG

hahaha.... and it goes on & on & on..... hahaha Mr. Green

SevenEleven SG

ha...we have a bunch of elites who seriously need to learn story telling or at least learn to tell a better tall tales to dupe the people.

4getmenot SG

i think they are running out of ideas liao.. hence the need to attract more 'talents' to the gahmen..

justcooler SG

I really don't mind the increase as long as they can provide trains with 3minutes interval and buses with 5 minutes interval during peak hour.

If they cannot provide that then we can get a 150% refund on our fare for that trip. That is fair for both the users and operators RIGHT ??

maurizio13 SG

Nah.

Government owns Temasek, Temasek owns SMRT.

If SMRT makes money, money goes to Temasek from there it goes to the government.

If SMRT gets fine, the money goes to government also.

KNN!!!

Both ways they also win!!!

It's like playing coin toss, whichever sides the coin is on, they win.

I think if they did not adhere to service standards, they should compensate commuters by giving them double the percentage of the increase.

It's more equitable.

hloc SG

Agree... SMRT have cut down the rate of trains from 3-5 min a train during peak hours.... to 5-7min a train.... thats why it is soo pack every peak hour.

Hope to see NEWS with a video of you holding a Sign saying you are 'Boycotting' SMRT..... I'm still waiting.....

Haha does boycott necessary mean protest?

A boycott is the act of voluntarily abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with someone or some other organization as an expression of protest.

Hey, what is the difference between a boycott and a protest? I've yet to hear your opinions.

I am indeed boycotting SMRT.

HyperFocal SG

..hmmm... quite a few good points there...

Lets all call this place The Whinery...!

Laughing

HyperFocal SG

You all want attention and to be heard, very simple...

I already mentioned before - simply don't go to work one or two days...

GHoST_18 SG

when times are bad, fares go up...

when times are good, fares go up too...

HyperFocal SG

There's no Good or Bad Times.... just PAP-times...
