We come back to foreigners staying in Spore n basically majoirty of them prefer to go back to their countries after working here for a couple of years.

Sorry 40% of the local working or studying abroad mostly youngsters. Whether will they come back to here is another matter.

Next Sunday on CNA, there is a tv programme on how some Chinese from HK, Taiwan n the People Republic of China venture out of their comfort zone to go to Canada to set up Chinese restaurats. Smile

are u sure it takes only 4 hours to reach Australia? From what I know it is minimum 5 hours to reach.

there is no such thing as a perfect government in this world hence I dont think GST, minister pay and politicial freedom are the main reason why Singaporeans want to migrate overseas.

I would think that overseas culture, weather and job opportunities are the biggest pull factors for young talented Singaporeans. The only thing Singapore government can do is the create more opportunities for these people to consider coming back and that is exactly what the government is doing.

U right to mention weather n work opportunities also the pull factor in luring Sporean to other countries but also housing cause what a local can buy

such as a four room HDB flat can get a landed property in other countries.
I think another reason is probabaly NS cause of the reservist. I really cannot understand some of the local guys hated to be promoted during resrvist.

ys, the govt is feeling the heat indeed, if not they wont bother to make contact with them (have they ever done tat decade ago??)..

MM said b4, sg educational system us so globally attractive..if we leave w/o a trace, its like investment going down the drain..he wan us to use our heart to feel about it...

As we compete for global talent, nothing more secure to retain our very own local talents, cos our roots are here..FT can always go away (tat's y govt very eager to make FT citzen so they wont run away)..

but one thing the govt can never compete w overseas...we're to small in land n over populated..tat will stop overseas singaporean frm coming back..

It will not be easy to make PR become citizen cause if u look at it, many PR also have family members in their countries.

U also need to take a look at other reason how come other coutries more attractive than here. First, u can only HDB flat but in other countries, ucan

of cos its not easy...cos PR n citizen makes not much diff here..even aft changes in rules, PR gotta pay slightly higher for education etc.they can live with it...

hence, govt is trying all ways to make PR become citizen

sure, if I was considering paying a bunch of scholars who don't know any better more than any government in the world, and being sued to kingdom come for speaking my mind, I would consider "making my future" here.

otherwise, i would rather stay where i am and take my chances being a "second class citizen"

Govt will definitely wanna make them citizens. but very few say yes to it. and those that say yes to it are people I know have married singaporean husbands.
