Just to give a commentary on crimes rates overseas, while i agree
that crime in other major cities around the world are statistically
higher than in Singapore, I have to mention that crimes in these
cities are typically confined to the "ghettos". The "ghettos" tend
to be inhabited by peoples who fall into the lower strata of
society, and the poverty tends to lead them towards leading a life
of crime.
For example, if you were living in an upscale part of London, the
chances of getting jumped/mugged/killed is very very
slim.
One has to be objective when
looking at statistics.
With a population of 4.5 million in a physically small Singapore,
10 murders a year will already be too high.
Compared with a population of 60 million in UK, that has a bigger
land mass, even 20 murders is statiscally lower than Singapore's
10.
