The European Union yesterday expressed regret that seven members of
the European Parliament had been banned by Singapore from speaking
at a forum on democracy.
Singapore's home affairs ministry said: "Singapore's politics are
reserved for Singaporeans."
The EU is negotiating a treaty of partnership and co-operation with
Singapore, which could include human rights stipulations. John
