i own a real EVO7 engine. does that count?

rx8: like a bmw, but with more power, higher fuel consumption.
wrx: It's the new honda civic. i see wrxes everywhere now. latest trend. Nice interior.
evo8: Exclusive sports car.

Among these three cars, i find the rex as neutral, and the best all round car here. while the evo is a mean performance machine. And the rx8 is like inbetween a performance car and a sports sedan.

but if you ask me, i'd prefer to have a skyline. Rolling Eyes

nevertheless all these cars i posted are great cars.
how many of you here do drifting around the corners?
how many of you ever drop 3rd and corner the S corner outside park mall at 100kph?
be realistic man...the reason i choose RX-8 is becoz i could use the power for straight, some decent power to move me around sg.
i believe those who drove a evo or rex here will agree with me that it is a hassle to drive them slow or well.
actually all depends on personal opinion.
i prefer comfort over performance.
for the boy racers, no offend but try to imagine this...you got your most desire ride, the fastest on earth. the EVO...you got out to the street...got trashed by mod civics than u went to mod your EVO. you won the civics! lost to other MOD evo or rex. angry, frustrated you press on harder...accident. who in the end wasted so much money on the car? who in the end got his licence scrap? who in the end suffer heavy bump on his ride? how to hook girls in a evo when the ride is so harsh? hmm....think about it. Embarassed

To me...having these monsters on streets of singapore...no point modifying coz its just singapore. Having these monsters on streets is just showing off u have deep pockets in singapore. hey man...most expensive car price in the world is singapore. haha. talk abt accident...drop 3rd on a corner at parkmall... if u have good control ok ah...but at 100km/h thats a lot of foot work u need to do with a good steering skills...i almost buang there turning at 100km/h on my fren's supercharged mx-5 but luckily drift just nice... almost hit kerb.

so the moral of my topic is...which of the 3 is the most suitable ride in sg. i believe any evo or rex can outrun a RX-8 but never trash. the RX-8 has decent power to catch up.
just downloaded a video from topgear.
the topgear technical airstrip course which they put the cars to test.
the Evo runs in at 1:28
the Rex runs in at 1:30
the RX-8 runs in at 1:31
3 secs away is not very far for a evo...not to mention a 1 sec split from the rex.
try to think...ever see anyone race around orchard for more than 1 min?
even if the road is clear with all green, 1 min will land you from marina to nearly tanglin...if...u r really racing at full rev.

sorry gotta corect u on this. in racing, 1 second is a lot. the greater your speed the larger a 1 second gap is. since cars usually cross the start/finish line at relatively highs speed, 1 second would well mean about 1 or 2 car lengths. at that dist there is nary a chance of overtaking. 3 seconds is well.... too much. if u're losing half a second per lap on your opponent, its already a disaster...

Not really 1 min...singapore?? 1 min from orchard to tanglin??? no i dont...singapore? again..impossible... if singapore no traffic light then can agree... btw... 1 sec is already alot. comparing evo to the rx-8...3 secs is alot....abt 3 car length.... i think u should research more abt cars my fren...

hmm...i did mention that if there is no car and the whole way is green. pls read the thread again and carefully.
i understand 3 second is alot...but u ppl must understand that it is done in a technical course in a circuit.
and is driven for 1:28 min to lead 3 sec, if u r racing around orchard, each small race cant last more than 30 sec? which mean a lead of very small margin?
stop comparing track time now...
i am talking about singapore road, pls stop talking about track time.
even a mildly mod civic can keep up with evos and rexs.
anyone understand what i am emphasizing?
road and track is different.
when i talk about road i talk about road with traffics.

LOW???? be serious plz....it's high all the while....all rotary engined cars consume much more fuel than piston engines...which i don't see a point in owning any of them...

hmm...give you all some simple knowledge of the new renesis rotary.
Dont compare the old rotary engine and the new renesis.
Mazda did a fine and easy job to encourage better fuel consumption.
Dont compare a rotary 1.3L to a piston 1.3L also.
Rotary engines run in 2 stroke.
It is 1x more efficient than a piston engine.
Now we dont compare different engine.
Compare the old and new rotary.
The new renesis now instead of 1 spark plug from the previous engine has 2.
According to a friend who drove a 2nd gen RX-7 last time.
The main problem of the old engine is unburn fuel.
This is becoz most of the fuels are not burn and flow out to the exhaust.
To counter this, Mazda install 2 sparks plug to fully ignite the fuel in the fuel chamber and also shifted the exhaust port to the side so only the exhaust can flow out of the engine while the unburn fuel will go back one more round to get burn again.
Comparing the old and new engine.
The renesis is saving alot more fuels than her old counterpart.

Lousy sentence...
What i mean is the main problem of the old engine is that the fuel didnt burn properly or completely, hence alot of unburn fuel are wasted.
Thats why they used 2 sparks plug to increase the chance of burning properly and if some are still not burn properly, the fuel will come back to another round to get burn again.
Try looking at the old and new rotary design and u will understand what i mean.

hmm...y not u do more research b4 u talk.
3 sec 3 car length?
dont talk about racing at high speed...normal speed of 50kph 1 sec is already more than 5 cars length.
at racing speed...3 sec is more than 200m away.
anyone disagree?

thank you, it is just that i happened to read a website all about rotary engine.
interested in that engine...
small cc producing such high efficiency hp.
but torque low have a problem when going up slopes...
wondering if any jap uses the RX-7 to go uphill racing?
sure lose...
