Singapore has copied unwittingly a system which has failed in ancient China trying to create an elitist mandarin hierarchy which only served to curtail mass participation and practical knowledge application and innovation among the general population.

Only a self-effacing emperor cannot see he is naked.

The one big difference between the present Singapore and past China - POWER.

In Singapore, nobody can wield great powers no matter what educational qualifications the person has.

Also, great results doesn't automatically mean getting a great post in civil service, if anybody is thinking of that.

The past China - as long as the Emperor himself is useless, some idiots will try to work himself up the ranks and overthrow him.

Singapore's talents are deemed by the government itself, which resulted in talents flowing overseas and not back here.

This is the reason why by playing up big on their own kind of talents many people are driven away to seek better pasture elsewhere.

It is a pity our great leader does not understand enough about motivation and what makes people tick.

On surface, we practised the same type of system as China, in actual fact, if anybody ever believes it, be prepared for the hammer to whack you hard.

Singapore has always been using the O and the A level Cambridge Exam to decide on who are the ones accetable move on in society, no? Isn't it the Singapore University, the Raffles Institution that produced the top civil servants, for the Singapore government? Aren't all these copied from UK? Didn't LKY and LHL both educated in the top universities in UK?

Since when did Singapore ever send any civil servants to unwittingly copy a system from China? How could the elitist system in Singapore a copy from China which was under communism for the last 50 years?

Before you know anything about the mandarin system in China, please don't make a fool of yourself.

Chinese Mandarin System was abandoned since 1905, hmm....it must be Sir Stamford Raffles, he must be the one who copied unwittingly from China, then he founded Raffles Institution, the elite school to cultivate the civil servants in Singapore. Then he instituted the PSLE exam, you dont score more than 260 also cannot get into RI, then the O level exam copied from Cambridge, only those who score a perfect 8 A1s can get into RJC....woa lao...No wonder why so many Chinese cannot get into civil service lah, they went to the wrong schools, only ended up as Chinese helicopters Embarassed

Now I know why there are so many ministers from RI. Remember the little girl, Wee Shu Ming, who claimed to be elite, also from RJC. Chinese Mandarin System was long gone, it is now RI, the very elite institute "which only served to curtail mass participation and practical knowledge application and innovation among the general population." RI is the continuation of the thousands years old china elitist mandarin system. Embarassed
