Kheng Peng SG if there is a religious based political party in singapore like PAS in malaysia do you think it will be able to gather as much supports as compared to other opposition parties?
Jontst78 SG Nope, as public religious discussions are not allowed, and Singapore is a secular nation. Unlike M'sia which is a declared Muslim Nation.
Fatum SG funny thing though ... we do have a race-based party in Singapore though ... one with close ties to UMNO no less ...... hmmmmm ........
laurence82 SG in singapore context, no we are a a mulireligious society what would it be like if a single religion-based party dominate the political scene and at the same time push their own religious agenda?
Fingolfin_Noldor SG Nah. The PAP will just accuse them of Marxism and next minute the whole lot of them will be exiled.
hloc SG I really hope there will never be one….... Religious based Party tends to base their rule or law according to their religious. And that will not please everyone.
rane SG it will not work. WE are supportive of religious harmony. If we have religious based party as gahmen, I doubt we can maintain the religious harmony in Singapore. OUr government is doing well in maintaining religious harmony which I am very supportive of.
bila_prem SG It doesn’t and such parties are a threat to national security. If such parties comes up wif extremist schemes, then there’ll be so peace around the region.
toll123 SG PKMS, one of the components in SDA and previous UMNO Singapore before independance.........
Fingolfin_Noldor SG Do you honestly even think such a party will emerge before the ISD goes knocking on their doors? And then the whole lot of them will either be locked up or exiled. Oh please, all this fear is simply so misplaced that it will NEVER happen. I'll be more worried the PAP finally gets around to declaring itself a dictatorship.
