Think they are going to ban this topic again. If they are positive in supporting freedom of speech, I don't think they will ban the topics. Please sgforums, explain to us the reasons why you are doing this to us. By doing this to us,it is like for eg: when you don't like the look of that someone you kill him/her.

If you are really a responsible media, do explain to us why you ban our topics. If you don't then will take it that you are not responsible to the users here. Anyone who is upright and neutral, will not resort to this way of handling/managing! Singapore is not a communist country.

Just wanna see if they will close or ban this topic. Singapore is not a communist country, I am sure freedom of speech is encouraged and not disallowed. Is our govt that narrow minded to disallow freedom of speech, I don’t think so right? Any upright government will allow freedom of speech!

The root of problems faced by the citizens is self-centredness.

Because of self-centredness, the whole country has been governed based on the ideas and assumptions of one man. It could only use leadership, talent, globalization and colourful expressions and concept to make it look like success.

Success came initially. It was the results people's own sacrifices in forgoing their incomes and earning to pay direct and indirect taxes and allowing government to recover all possible costs and making hidden profits on lands and assets through its GLCs.

Since 1970s, the initial success brought about by people's own sacrifices was taken for granted as leaders' or government's own success or talents.

As events have proven, such self-centred system of running the country is no longer sustainable resulting in deep periodic recessions, unemployments and dropping wages of ordinary citizens from which the people have yet to recover.

Now leaders are using external economic recovery as a hype with the help of their controlled media to make workers' sacrifices on cpf cuts and double-taxation on essential services, lands and assets look like their success.

Once it is proven that self-centredness especially in the aftermath of ministers' wrongful benchmarking of their own salaries to lucky private sector CEOs, has ceased to work and will no longer work for the future sustainability of growths, it is then possible for newspapers to free themselves from the current yoke of obsessive controls by the autocrats.

I know the self-centredness problem long ago, the difference between now and before is it has gotten worst with the rule of Lee hsien loong. He is the worst we can have for a PM in Singapore. Say or criticise whatever about the past PMs, think they in their ways contribute much more than the junior lee.

It is so questionable why he enters politician to serve people. Wants to earn more $$$, be a business man. he is giving himself bad publicity as a politician who concentrates so much on money making than care enough to servce the people with sincerity.

Well, ultimately the people have a choice on voting day. Some people are to blame themselves for the choice they have been making. So it is two sides to a coin. Make them the choice, so please don't complain and blame them for the continuous rise of the cost of living within short time. You have yourself to blame!!! Base on the number of votes they are in power to rule.

do kindly explain, how a mod should behave, i guess, each mod, is using their own perception to determine whether, this topic should be locked or deleted away.

I am not the only one who have bad encounters with FI. Go read the forums here there are people whom she treated negatively. If you are so pro FI, I don't think you are objective on this.

Sometimes I know why she deleted or threaten to delete topics, other times she is just probably throwing her weight around!!! In online communities, the moderator's word is final. Not happy, use the private message system.

By starting so many topics related to it, it's just asking for trouble. That will be seen as a challenge and is more often than not a flamebait. Since that is so, everything has to be closed before flaming starts. Be glad that your nickname is still alive. On some other forums, try this and you see the word Banned above your nickname.

Whether or not topics meant any harm, we should realize that somebody will say the wrong thing and the fire starts.

In the case of the underhand tactics thread, it's not saying the wrong things, but rather letting perceptions rules over logic. From a nice harmless topic to name-calling, bringing topics over from Bar to Speakers' Corner... you get the flow.

Unfortunately, our mods play hide and seek. They don't participate in conversations as mediators or anything.

They just sit back and click without explaining anything.

And, it's not for you to explain their actions, but them themselves, unless the said moderators use alter egos in their patrol of the forum.

At the end of the day, this whole sgforums still belong to someone else, his own private property.

I think admin or admin-appointed-mods have the right to decide what should be discussed here, but as far as the situation is concerned, its an purely administrative issue, not a government conspiracy or some restriction of freedom of speech issue.

We can be against government or its policies, but please dont be overly paranoid and accusatory to inflict damage on our fellow citizen in name of 'freedom of speech'. Respecting other's private property and space should be one of our considerations when participating in mature political discussion.
