when u compare salary of CEO you have to understand what share option they are holding. My previous company CEO and VP only draw US$100,000 a year but the share option they hold worth 60 millions in share and price of share never drop but keep going up over the last 10 years.

Why should the CEO's stakes in the company be factored for the benchmarking of pay?

I was responding to the Bear's post about how this regime has a knack of benchmarking their own payroll against the wages of CEO's, not the net worth of CEO's.

It's not rocket science that tells you Bill Gates owes much of his wealth on the basis of his stakes - ie. his net worth - in Microsoft, does it?

Maybe you'd like to check out how Warren Buffet's wages actually commensurate with his net worth. The wage he draws would have you believe the despots and tyrants running this regime are, if paychecks commensurated with their ability, 10 to 15 times more capable than someone whose personal net worth is the second highest on the planet.

I think the comparing of public listed CEO pay with PAP paid is a global joke so there is nothing to elaborate about.

But i think in this day and age, when talking about public listed CEO compensation package, it is reasonable to take option into account and not seperate. net worth is just accademic n politically correct terms.

They are not comparing apples to apples, but apples to durians. They are the gahmen of the country, it is proper and more appropriate for them to compare their salary with the ministers and gahmen in other countries.

Likewise, it does not make sense when a CEO of a company compares his salary with the govt.

It is a joke by any standards. You could benchmark the tyrants' paycheck against other politicians on the planet or even that of the CEO's (which obviously warrants no comparison with their net worth) of the world's leading MNC's.

It isn't. As a matter of fact, I was hardly deliberating the merits of compensation packages with regard to CEO remunerations in the corporate world.

As this regime would like you to believe, they're benchmarking their pay against the wages of the leading professionals. That, in truth, is what their pay is benchmarked against(or so they claim). In truth, this has nothing to do with compensation packages, stock options and ultimately, their net worth.
