Salaam,
When you asked why would a perfect book from god have such
words,for in life there are war and conflicts but all times we must
always remeber whom we fight for and never to trangress.
And for the verses,it is always important to read the verses prior
and post the choice you have made.
An exaple of verse 066.009 a continuation,Allah gives an exples of
the acts of unbelievers.

YUSUFALI: Allah sets forth, for an example to the Unbelievers, the
wife of Noah and the wife of Lut: they were (respectively) under
two of our righteous servants, but they were false to their
(husbands), and they profited nothing before Allah on their
account, but were told: "Enter ye the Fire along with (others) that
enter!"

YUSUFALI: And Allah sets forth, as an example to those who believe
the wife of Pharaoh: Behold she said: "O my Lord! Build for me, in
nearness to Thee, a mansion in the Garden, and save me from Pharaoh
and his doings, and save me from those that do wrong";
066.012
YUSUFALI: And Mary the daughter of 'Imran, who guarded her
chastity; and We breathed into (her body) of Our spirit; and she
testified to the truth of the words of her Lord and of His
Revelations, and was one of the devout (servants).
The examples mentioned has nothing to do with the justification
of KILLING or BEHEADING. That is a barbaric act which should be
reserved only in 7th century!!
Its human nature to act compelled to our hearts desire... We can
fight, we can react, we can be angry with just the way we are. We
do not need a book to dictate how or what killing should be
done!
What we need is a justification to calm us all... not wielding
swords at the slightest provocation!
As for verse 009.014
The preceding verse explain who we should fight,and who fights
us..

YUSUFALI: And still the indignation of their hearts. For Allah will
turn (in mercy) to whom He will; and Allah is All-Knowing,
All-Wise.
Islam is a religion for man.
It has a code of conduct from birth to death,in war and
peace.
We do not shirk the resposibility to fight when it is right.
We do not shirk the respoibility to admit wrong when we are
wrong.
In short,the Quran teaches us much about the world and about divine
command to fight for peace but never go to excess.
Why didn't you mention anything about taken out of context? You
did with my first post.... quoting examples even which does not
have anything to do with slaying innocents...Or is it, its
justifiable because they are non believers?
And know, you say, The verse above is code of conduct....
Who says its a code of conduct? Why didn't you show me any verses
after or prior to it?
So, questionable verses, you say must read the whole context....
But verses which promotes good, you all never say anything? So you
just pick and choose to see which verse is better?
We do not fight those who dont fight us.
As the Quran say,Fight them as they fight you,but never be the
aggresor.
you sure? What has innocents people did that you must kill? What
wrong did Singapore did, that you plan to blow us up? What Hyatt
hotel did that u have to blow it up? Or Bali for that
matter....
Do the innocents knew what was going on?
