i see. 8500 is the average figure for the past decade, that means certain year it has to be lower than 8500 unlike Sporeans who are leaving about 8,000 per year and it is a steady uptrend. Think once the exodus figure exceeds 8500 per year , they have to seriously think about dual citizenship. If not no of reservists will shrink steadily too since first generation PR has no NS liabilities.

IIRC they can still remain as PRs after NS, with the option of taking up citizenship. However if they decline to serve they have to leave. At least that's what my ex-classmate, a Hongkonger, told me.

Yep, I want to know about that too.

On a seperate note, just because someone gives up his or her old citizenship to become a Singapore citizen does NOT mean that they cannot have their original citizenship re-instated. Singapore is properly the only country who will bare the grudge against those who chose to migrate, regardless of the reason.

Must have heard of cases where foreign tenants transformed the landlords flats beyond recognition after vacating the premises.

Similarly, unchecked immigration can also transform our country beyond recognition.

PR kids only be offered a choice to change their citizenship when they almost completed NS but they have a choice to change. They still holding PR status

when they serving NS in their unit.

the reason they have more time with family is because you are locked in a gated compound most of the time and you cant go out at night cause it is an extremely dangerous country, where tribe laws still apply.

More FT become citizens, do you know why? Because it become very easy to obtain now. My friend working for foreign labour also know that. Not only FT, foreign labour can get it also. Our worthless pink card will become useless in the future. More foreign will become PR and outnumber Singaporeans. LKY said 1/3 of our 4.4 million population are foreigners. That mean 1.4 million are foreigners. 4.4 minus 1.4 = 3 million Singaporeans. If raise to 6.5 million population, that mean 6.5 minus 3 = 3.5 million foreigners. Overall, 3 million Singaporeans and 3.5 million foreigners.

Yes, my friend had seen some of them become citizen and come back to shown off and tell my friend. Some are those lazy brats, even come back to tell friend in rude and loud manner because he scold them before for not coming to work and demand paid.

Some workers with permit will disappear without a trace.
