idwar SG Pretty gal in pink on the eve of World War 2 in 1941 Can anyone identify the location? ==================== Capitol theatre, North Bridge Road, 1964 Remember that STC Bus? No 17B to Queenstown..........
Darkness_hacker99 SG Why is this topic at Speaker's Corner? Got something to do with politics meh the pic?
idwar SG OK-- the topic is : Singapore got no more Past= all destroyed in the name of progress, and this has contributed to the general sense of Alienation amongst every singaporean At this rate, Singapore is a Hotel, not a home
sg mata SG i agree…..such places of heritage and nostalgia need to be preserved so that everyone will remember what spore was like in the past and will also give a sense of belonging to the elderly, who probably cannot keep up with the rapid development of our country. Such places should be restored and used for purposes that are relevant to today’s needs.
ShutterBug SG Excuse me, but I believe that our gov is ONLY interested in preserving their REVENUES and their onw INCOMES.... If preserving historical places and buildings can bring them more revenues & income for them, you can be sure they'd hopped on it like they did the IR project....
Dr Who SG If the Govt do not take steps to build social ballast and roots, very soon, we will all leave for better pastures. Why stay in Singapore if there are better alternatives? Why stay in Singapore if you cannot get a Uni education with good A-level results? We stay is because parents are here.....once they are gone....we go......for the sake of future generations........
Icemoon SG I thought this is called pragmatism? If our gov is that greedy and places revenues and incomes above societal values, why was the cabinet split when the IR project was first proposed?
