Protecting citizens is one issue, arresting the rioters is another.
If the use of such weapons resulted in the death of of quite a few
rioters, it will only give more reason for the rioters to continue,
not back off.
True, they will be scared when their fellow rioters suddenly drop
to the ground, but once they recover from the shock, it will be
disastrous.
Also, the fact that they will go on riots showed that they are
educated, they are informed. Even if they can't get the special
equipment to protect them, there are ways to get around
things.
With such nice toys in their hands, I would like an assurance that
such equipment are being used properly (if they are ever in
Singapore), and not using on every occasion when riots break
out.
