I think, this 'Offset Package' as well as 'Progress Package', is something we DID NOT ask for nor expected from our gov. In the past we all got by WITHOUT it, why suddenly so dependant on it?

If our gov doesn't want us to be so dependant on them, we should not harp about this. If you receive the amount (large or small) take it and use it wisely. If you DON'T receive the amount (exact or otherwise), so be it. Have, take it, don't have forget it and move on...

They are only doing this to look good to the world, you think this amount can help you in the long run???

Why increase your chances of High BLood pressure by harping about this??

Yes, we do not ask for it. But I find that if they initiated to give then do a good job to give the full complete amount entitled to each individual. Think it is very much about sincerity and honesty.

So did you call to confirm that it is true that you are short paid by $100? Think they purposely short pay. Seems like they give this unwillingly!!! Go ask for what you are short of!!

Tell people around you to check if they are short paid, too!

If you received letter stating $100, go call the hotline to check and if true it is short paid, then ask to pay the full entitled amount.

Forgot to mention these in my previous reply.

You may not need the $$$ GST Offset package, do spare a thought for others who need $$$ and this may come in time for some people. For eg, my ex neighbour, a cleaner, just got news that she will lose her job as the company is closing down end of this month. She said she is glad that at least there is some cash for her from the offset package. If you dont need the $$$ then dont sign up to accept.

Anyway, as mentioned b4 my main motive of posting this is to tell people to take note and check if they are short paid. Whining!!??? oops!!!! There are so many others like me come here and post rather than write to STs. It is a matter of choice of communication!

Anyway, yes I do agree on your standpoint. But what I am saying is that we shouldn't come across to the gov as they have claimed recently: "Singaporeans can't make it without them.."

Yes, again I agree with you. Those low incomers who are in a tight spot, will find this Handout a welcome financial boost. So therefore it is only a matter of ethics and principle, that they payout the FULL amounts and not shrug back certain amounts and act blur.

However, if you think you can pull through on your own, show them you don't need them to make it.

Seems very obvious without doubt that they serve the nation with much arrogance. Pride goes before a fall! They have more than once told Singaporeans dont depend on the govt. This is like slapping their own face. They have planned things in their agenda for the nation, and on the other hand asked the people dont depend on them. They are voted by the people to take care of the nation, yet told the people of Singaporeans dont depend on them, what a fool!!! They make themselves laughing stock! They want the nation not to depend on them, then the govt should not depend on the nation to increase birth rate, dont depend on us, depend on the FTs to increase birth rate!

Just find that Singapore needs new blood in the political scene, lets all vote for other party for the coming election. Get FT to be our next PM, ha ha!

Unfortunately, very few people take it that it is our money that they are giving us. This insincerity of giving the full amount entitlement really put people off. The more they act blur they more we should demand we want the full entitlement amount of $$$$. IN this sense, I doubt their credibility! Mr. Green The GST offset package is just another gimmick for them to gain favour from the public. As usual, very good in giving sweets to the children!

Readership in sgforums is probably at most, in the hundreds. If you write to ST, it's in the hundreds of thousands. Of course, there's no guarantee that your letter will be published. However, does it cost you anything to try? No harm at all. You don't try, you won't know. Unless you have already condemned yourself by saying "it will never be published". If your letter is unsuccessful in ST, then try TNP.

If not, I wouldn't be wrong to label your posts here as whinings.
