Sadly true, and I believe this is why they tuned our economy such that most of us are too busy and concerned over making just enough to put food on the table to bother about democracy.

Step on your feet to injure it so you cannot run and chase after them...

Unfortunately, it takes takes a high level of intellect for people to realize how democracy and freedom of speech will lead to a better life for them and their children... but people do not think... they are like sheep and simply follow the leader.

When you have dishonorable dictators as leaders... they will push people to the limit by taking away their money so that they have to work so much harder. When people work so hard, they should reap the rewards and not have to finance the luxurious lifestyles of dishonorable people.

Yes, when it comes to Singaporeans' salaries... they compared with 3rd world countries forgetting that our cost of living by their policies is worst than many 1st world countries.

When it comes to their own million dollars salaries, the level of luxury they enjoy is not enough because they compared with the hardworking (and as Philip J points out, lucky, by luck, they earn so much) top earners in Singapore.

They are even "jealous" of sick people going to class C wards while they have no qualms taking millions in public money every year (the chief dictator's family take approx S$10million)....

wake up people... you fall sick and you want to save money by going to class C wards... those that take millions in public money are "jealous" of you doing that!

It is right for them to take public money for even more luxuries but sick people cannot go to class C wards to save money...

See how freedom of speech can point out and hopefully stop such atrocities in the newspapers you read everyday instead of having to read about it in the internet forum.

Isn't it as good as they are "jealous" in a manner of speaking?

They look at the statistics and they see some people that they think can afford class B wards, are going to class C wards. Or class A wards going to class B wards.

They are not "happy"; they are "jealous"; they have to do something about it!

Why don't they get "not happy", "jealous" with themselves for taking millions on top of millions of public funds that could have gone to more hospital beds?

It is wrong for sick people to worry and try to spend less money for hospitalizations but it is right for them to live in even more luxury using public money??? Evil or Very Mad

These are sick people. Generally, nobody goes to hospital for the fun of it.

Do you know that you can stay in hospital and get paid for it as research subjects. Yet, I keep getting emails to ask me to participate. Why? People just do not want to go to hospitals even if they are paid for it!

Well, I see the word "jealousy" differently Laughing .

Anyway, I feel that the govt's intentions are justified but the means are not. They want to prevent abuse of the system......but like you said, they could have spent their millions on more beds or perhaps a new hospital?

Khaw has not been doing his job well but has been portrayed by the media as competent and efficient. Maybe he should go back to private practice and continue doing operations. His brain should go under the knife for a start.

Pointless, maybe... but I think what he wants to do is , like I said before...

1. Embarrass the dictators in front of their peers in the international stage.
2. Get support from the international community to sanction Singapore like they did South Africa's Apartheid regime.

In a sense, he probably thinks that Singaporeans are too brain-washed and/or lack the intellectual capability and so appealing to Singaporeans is a waste of time.

After the CSJ engineered EU parliamentarians fiasco, a whole generation of EU leaders will have very bad opinion of the Singapore dictators.

You can imagine them drinking coffee at Starbucks in Brussels going... Singapore? What a third rate country run by a brutal dictatorship.

however, have you asked people around?

they see him as a clown.. the Lees have face skin which can be bio-engineered to work as armour so you think they will be embarassed?

the world leaders don't care about 'embarassment' because hey.. look at the skeletons in their closets they themselves have...

so, don't be hoodwinked.. LKY knows the score.. he says that either to goad the shameful CSJ into more (works into LKY's hands) which desensitises the people even more..

either that or the cynical may view it in a more insidious way and CSJ is a mole damaging the opposition, given the go-ahead to cause more damage and desensitise the people even more...

whatever it is, CSJ is doing a disservice to the people of Singapore..

his supposed martyrdom is just a disgrace to the people who know...

and you should know better too...

He does not care if Singaporeans think him a clown.

He even got Reuters on his side. Why did Reuters have to publish such a damaging picture on the brutality of Singapore's regime?

Something like this one:

I am having an intellectual non partisan discussion with you. What gives you the idea that I am actively supporting the man? I am for more opposition members in parliament...

I am just pointing out to you that while you are probably right that many in Singapore think him a clown... and even dangerous... he is nevertheless making an impact (OK maybe a small impact) in the international arena...

If you do not see that, you are missing something...
