Whatever good policies of PM Lee will they be undone by MM ?

Let us look at some of changes PM Lee has tried to introduce since he took office in 2004.

It is to be noted that ex-pm Goh Chok Tong has upon taking office done the same probably to atone for some of the PAP's past harsh policies of the past which caused suffering of the people.

The changes announced by both ex-pm Goh and PM Lee have come across as good changes and will definitely motivate the people and help to turn around our economic competitiveness, when people can be encouraged to participate in the national life, community bonding and creativity and vibrancy as a people.

But look again and see what has his ministers been doing in carrying out their policies as seen in the way they answered to complaints or problems in parliament. Look in particular how MM Lee fired salvo against critics or oppositions in the election campaigning and calling them names like liars without any graciousness.

If ex-pm Goh was his own men, he should have at least fulfilled his promise to create a kinder society by his own actions and conduct. Loot at how he threatened to withdraw or withold lift upgrading to Potong Pasir or Hougang residents in the last election?

Look at the way he has been increasing the costs of living of the citizens with all kinds of fee increases despite the government taxing the citizens heavily and making all kinds of hidden profits resulting in budget and off-budget surpluses year after year.

If he has been kinder and gentler he would at least have realized and taken actions to alleviate the rising costs of living.

Has PM Lee taken active actions to fulfill his promise to build an inclusive society since 2004.

It will be remembered that in his last election campaigning he had unwittingly revealed that he had spent a lot of his time in studying how to fix the oppositions. Is such an action being inclusive? Is the role of opposition so bad for Singapore politics or political evolution as a nation that he must demolished whatever nascient opposition talents we could find in our small population.

It is not difficult to find clue of his inclusiveness within the short period of 36 months after taking office, to judge whether he is interested in "building an inclusive society".

All we can see is he is trying to push up his ministers' and senior civil servants salaries beyond bounds or reasons while ignoring the plights of ordinary citizens and their welfare and wellbeing.

Now he is launching the "Singapore Kindness Week".

He is still increasing the tax burdens on the citizens with all kinds of direct and indirect taxing and recovering of all government costs which has stifled our economic competitiveness and driven up our costs of living over the past 40 years.

He is not being accountable to problems like the NKF or Shin Corp and is continuing to practise a close system of governance while expecting the private sector to be more open and accountable to their shareholders.

Perhaps, no one knows whether he is serious about building an inclusive society and what does he mean by inclusive.

Perhaps it is just a political jargon as practised by Goh or perhaps only time will tell.

Or perhaps they still cannot get out of the shadow of MM Lee who will demolish or undo whatever good they believe and at the end go back to using legalistic wrangling of laws and regulations, defamation law suit, coercions or hypocrisy to govern the country.

When MM Lee kicks the bucket, there will be dancing in the streets, literally and without police permits too.

I also hope streets will have names, instead of numbers.
Since independence we have a morbid fear of naming things with names.
We had a slew of Natonal this and National that.
Streets are numbered.
We were more creative at naming under the British.
I can remember Jalan Tua Kong, because I had fish head curry there a long time ago.
I am not sure of Jurong Street 51 or something, where I had nasi rawan recently

Under Li Kwang Yeow, we also had the Cinderela complex, all public buses ends its run at midnight. Numerous calls for extension met with a no. Night riders came in Goh Chok Tong's shift.

Also we lost out on F1, because LKY could not understand why people want to go round and round very fast.

Also the MIW will be allowed to dress casually for NDP, once the old man is gone. NDP is a national celebration, not a political party affair.

Crap lah, that lee hsien loong, jiak liao bee!!! Kindness movement, he talked about this, yucks!!! His kindness is questionable and he talks about kindness! He is not fit to launch the kindness movement. Whatever, our ex PM is in better position to launch the kindness movement and he Mr Goh is the one who started it. At least Mr God is generally kind. But the arrogant Lee hsien loong, yucks!!!! He wanna talks about kindness he be kind to his own people in Singapore lah!!! Phui, lee hsien loong!!! Go look himself in the mirror lah before talking about kindness!!! So many of us can't bring ourselves to respect you lee hsien loong!!!

u can't really be throwing parties all over right, even though many people will really feel like doing so.

Having names instead of numbers do not make it better. It might be good for nationalism but is bad for direction finding.

The street naming is a bit silly, but the way they name avenues and drives is almost idiot proof - odd numbers are perpendicular from even numbers.

Let me give you a knockdown example - Geylang. Do we need creative naming to know there is a famous beef horfan at Lorong 9?

For an older example, look at how your parent and grandparent generations find their way in town.

1. Da Ma Lu
2. Er Ma Lu
3. San Ma Lu
4. Si Ma Lu

Do we need to know Waterloo Street to find the famous Guanyin Temple? Or knowing the Temple is at Si Ma Lu, I can just topo from North Bridge Road?

i have no doubts that many people will pay their last respects to this great man.

But many of us will also be relieved that he can finally stop all his nonsense when the day comes.

He should have retired gracefully many years ago.
