Breeding a new generation of quitters

Gazelle SG

we have had this discussion about elite and elitist long time about. Might want to do a search for this topic so that we dont waste time talking about it all over again.

Unless you know the background of each and every forumers here, if not I dont see how you could make the assumption that I am wrong and your are right.

Gazelle SG

I have done a search on the internet I dont seem to find any specific to what you are saying. And I also believe that it is not in the government interest to publish this since it will put more salt to the wound/

Coquitlam SG

This really takes the cake...Gazelle is so shallow.....don't even know what American society is all about...

Coquitlam SG

Soulrage

No point discussing it with Gazelle.....even if her were coming from a nice angle

Coquitlam SG

All the more we should put salt in the wound by letting everyone here know the status of the outflow of ex'poreans...would sure be fun to see the how the locals here react to see what they are missing out on

soul_rage SG

its ok, Coquitlam, if he wants to know, I can just let him know since he spoke nicely.

Gazelle, it was in the papers, that's why I said so-called income survey. They were using it as a means for some talk about their pay hike as well.

The average middle-income person earns btw S$1,500 to S$4,000.00/mth.

The top 10% is >= S$7,000.00

don't ask me to find proof. I can't be bothered.

and I agree, I don't want to talk about elites and elitist attitude. I just want to remind you the dangers of what you are doing here.

Gazelle SG

hmm..I think your figure is top10% earning among Singaporeans, not top10% earner in Singapore. If you include expat, I think it will be alot higher than that. thats my gut feel.

soul_rage SG

maybe, maybe not, *shrugs* all I remembered was income range for people working in Singapore.

Its interesting to know that our ministers earn in 1.5 days, what the top 10% earned in one month. How deliciously overinflated their pay is.

Gazelle SG

I the first place, why should you be border by how much money other people are making? Instead of whining about it, why not take some time to learn about how to make money instead.

Is this what I call typical Kiasu Singaporean attitute?

Coquitlam SG

Hi Gila Gazelle

The numbers should be published to motivate people....and incidentally, I am already making money, thank you.

bigmouthjoe SG

LOL like whining about racism in Australia instead of marching down to the Australian embassy to right things?

Gazelle SG

Is the mother you are dating expecting your baby?

Gazelle SG

everybody is, the only difference is if you are happy with what you make.

bigmouthjoe SG

Not yet. We ain't planning for one yet. Unlike your's... which was of a different color. Probably by an australian guy, that's what's making you so mad and angry about Australia. Laughing

googoomuck SG

Ive posted this in another thread but I think its more appropriate to post here.

For those few good men quitters as theyre known - out there, by all means go and make your money but pls come back and play a part in public service for at least a term to represent and serve the 80% of citizens who cannot quit the country.

And if you succeed in making Singapore a good place for her citizens to call home, you might even reconsider giving up your plan to emigrate.
I do not agreed with the MMs talk about revolving door type of government. If one already has expertise and wealth of experience gained in or outside Singapore, he does not need to spend his entire lifetime learning how to serve like the current cabinet ministers and high ranking civil servants are doing now..

The penalty that good men pay for not being interested in politics is to be
governed by men worse than themselves. You can tell by the way these scholars talked and defended their policies. Its just not convincing at all.

soul_rage SG

I think there are many ways to help the population, or rather in the more correct terms, give guidance to the general population. It is not necessarily thru politics nor thru public service. The myopic leaders can keep their jobs, I don't really care much for them, but more for how we can make this place a better place to live in.

The recent forum between LKY and YPAP have also highlighted the "brain drain" issue.

I think the fact that people will be moving around different countries as globalization takes root is a given. What I believe we should be doing is to make it that when people leave, at the end of the day they will still want to come back to SG.
