I had the same questions early this year when the COE price
started coming down.
I've been a Honda person for more than 10 years. In March
this year, I traded in my 6 year old Honda Civic for a Golf GT
Sport. One of the reason's I didn't like the new civic was
because the seating position was quite low even with the seat all
the way up. Could be a silly reason for most people :).
And the fact that there are a dime a dozen Civics on the road.
The Golf is my first conti car... and I absolutely love it.
The Golf IS DIFFERENT. It's kind of hard to compare it to a
Civic. It is so easy to think of it as a sports car when in
fact it is not. It picks up to 100 km/h so easily when you
still think it's could be doing 60. A lot of power when you
need it but with as much fuel economy as my old Civic. Road
tax is also cheaper because of the 1.4L engine.
It's gonna be very difficult for me to go back to a Japanese car
after this. The Golf is expensive though. I was lucky
to get it during the sale at 82.8k from VW. Very happy with
the Golf.
i guess 82.8k for a 1.4 twin turbo is lot of money..
but 1 reason why there is so much power in the golf is
because of the speed torque graph. if im not wrong, there should be
a flat torque over some rpm range.
Cheer.
