I think it is pointless to argue back and forth about this.

Best way is; I will continue to post articles of the 'kind of things' they do in Singapore, and perhaps some of you should post articles on locals who end up in the papers. This way, we can all see, which is more popular in this regard...

Kitchen assistant charged with murder at Raffles City Shopping Centre

Dispute between 2 staff at restaurant ends in death of 25-year-old

SINGAPORE : The man allegedly responsible for the murder of a restaurant supervisor at Raffles City Shopping Centre on Saturday has been charged in court.

43-year-old kitchen assistant Wang Zhe Jin, a Chinese national, is now under police custody and his case will be mentioned in court next week.

Wang is said to have murdered his restaurant supervisor, 25-year-old Tan Guan Wha.

Tan died from a stab wound to the chest.

Tan's body was brought back to his Marsilling home on Monday afternoon.

Even the media can manipulate and only report information on what they want you to see... So even that is flawed

I won't bother, coz it is clear that your prejudice is very deep.
When a person is adamant that their view is correct, no matter what you do, they will insist its right, even if you show them its wrong.

I hope that for others who read this thread, when we start accusations of others, before we do it, kindly self-reflect on ourselves, whether we are nice or good people, whom have the right to stereotype other people.

Yes, perhaps we each do not have rights to stereotype others. But does the 'person' from 'that other country', have the right to kill another person over work-related differences??? Are we talking about RIGHTS? Or is there some kind of Culture Clash? Maybe in their homeland it is norm to kill another over personal or work-related differences???

Killing people over trivial matters happens everywhere. It doesn't matter who or what nationality the perpetrator(s) and victim(s) are.

Oh ok.. I guess we should just accept the fact that it will become the norm here, and just let it become a rampant act among 'those nationals'....I won't say what national or race, I'll just let what the media publishes detail their most common foreign origins.

The Kallang Case, is a sad one... I expect this case to be brought up in discussion here.

Well the local man was pushed to the edge where he lost he senses and thus resorted to such a horrific act. He was made a thoroughbred local fool, but personally, I wonder what the hell is a married guy like him doing fooling around with a China girls? Doesn't he know that there are marriage scams, and what nought involving China girls???

Now, I am NOT saying that the local culprit in this instance, has any right to take the China woman's life, but in contrast with the recent restaurant killing, it took very little to push the kitchen helper into such a vicious act.

I think one of the hallmark of someone 'civilised' and/or 'cultured' is tolerence. If you can't tolerate those amonst us who are different, then perhaps the problem is YOU, not them.

I know for a fact, local kids, and the illiterates are the culprits - but how come we still have illiterates since we are First World Class?? ...hmmm...

Now, how tolerant are our neighboring countries towards us (and our gov)? The HAZE from Indonesia (who are now even considering banning granite after sand) were tolerated basically because it is a huge uncontrollable problem in Indonesia - its people.

You don't seem to be only upset with PRCs.

And as I said, its not only the PRCs that are coming here, but Indians, Indonesias, Filipinos, etc.

I am not against globalization, and FTs coming here (but I am against our gov's blindness to the many displaced local employees).

To me, these Indian, Western, Malaysian, Japanese, FTs are like butterflies bees and humming birds. But the influx of PRCs, are like FLIES!

Whatever the nationality they are, just come here and make your money peacefully and leave or stay. Fine. But don't behave like 'those nationals' who often end up on the front pages of our local papers!! And or basically be a pain to live side-by-side with!!

Upset? I'm beyond and over with UPSET...

- > annually, ever increasing living costs explained away with bland excuses
- > to help the poor a 2% increase in GST was set in motion Shocked (???)
- > bilateral ties with neighbors - screwd... no sand, no granite, satelite

get employers to hire older locals either by incentives or by rule - too

Tell me, which do you think I WAS upset over? I run my own little business, I hire locals EXCLUSIVELY. I have turned away approximately 150 PRC applicants! Now I am taking the show elsewhere!

Personally, I've given up really... cause I'm already effectively leaving this country where the gov doesn't or did little to help its people feel belonged and older locals needed....

Now I can understand. True, the govt is ignoring the singaporeans who are being displaced by the FTs.

I want to make a statement here, on several assumptions:
(1) We are assumed to be expensive
(2) We are assumed to be less skilful
hence many of us are displaced

If that is the truth, then fine, survival of the fittest. But the worst is hearing that these are just assumptions.

Just take up the many Indian consultants I have dealt with. They are not better than us (my colleagues in the dept are better than them in every aspect), they are not cheaper than us (they are asking for pays like in excess of $5,000.00, when we are earning < 4,000.00).

This is what I dislike about how our govt is opening our doors. Give us a chance, don't make silly assumptions. Its like the kid outside the door saying your son is useless, he is better, and you believe him.

The sad part is, our govt thinks our people are incapable of doing what these FTs can do, or are convinced by these contract companies that we Singaporeans cannot do what they do.

And, give the PRCs a chance. Many of them are nice people. As always the minority makes the majority look bad.
