Look at the problems we have with Indonesia (sand issue),
Thailand (Shin Corp) and Malaysia (Clob issue) where we blame each
other for our domestic problems.
Then look at the economic superpowers of USA, Europe (of which
London is the regional hq), China, Japan and South Korea. If North
Asia were to combine forces, it would be formidable indeed.
Then look at the Arab states and Israel. They are so consumed with
dealing with their internal politics, how to combat USA eyeing
their oil reserves?
Even Russia, South America and Africa has huge potential due to
their size. Even if they close off their economy, they could still
survive.
Then look at Singapore, the little red dot. Its only chance is as a
regional centre. It is politically stable and we command a premium
(high costs) because of that.
Let's say I am a china company and wants to expand. Would I choose
USA, Europe, Japan, South Korea or would I choose Singapore?
