Did I said confrontation with them? I am not specifically referring to the Shin and the sandy issues.

I am referring to our long govt standing of shutting ourself up each time we have trouble with our neighbours. How is that good for our long term reputation as a independant nation?

I don't think the issues you mentioned are for us ordinary Singaporean to deal with. They are beyond us.

If I have to give an anwer to your questions, then it would involve the political realm and I am reluctant to go too much into these areas.

If you believe a govt (any govt) has a political machinery, be it the mass media, diplomatic channel, third foreign country connection, pressure, standing on parliament etc. More assertiveness at times in using these machinery but judicious and appropriate timing. Not silent all the time.

Hmm, well, we did use a third-party diplomatic note, but I do agree with you that our Parliament could do with more vigorous airing of this issue. It's been too quiet.
