qpicanto SG Despite it self-glorification by its mouthpiece, a HUGE chunk of the workforce adult population has primary or no eduation, about 25%-30% of the total workforce. Plus those not in the work force, it is easily a third of the population. What has the govt been doing or not done that resulted in today scenario?
hloc SG Yeah lor..... I play Nintendo during primary school..... Sega 16-Bit in secondary school.... Nintendo 64 during my NTC..... PC games all my adult live..... did not study much because i always fooling around..... I ALSO blame Govt for making me a failure in MY OWN education...... Oops...... should have BLAME MYSELF
hiphop2009 SG overgeneralisation. 30 to 40 years ago, or even before independence, education was more difficult to come by. do ur history homework before u comment.
chiabaliao SG Not too difficult to understand when the educational system here is only meant to produce elites to serve the ruling party and sieve out the rest. Principals, teachers, parents, and students are all under tremendous pressure to produce A's. Who cares about education any more?
laurence82 SG now yes, but TS is talking about a huge chunk of the adult population, which can mean anyone from 21 to 100 years old since there is at least compulsory education at primary school level, i think we should focus more on quality of education
hiphop2009 SG TS is saying our workforce, who are people born 20 to 40 years ago. if the above sentences is ur case, den i think it applies more to the current situation =P
chiabaliao SG That was already the policy even in 1965. Those days, the losers dropped out. Now, they are forced to go ITE (It's The End).
Joshua1975 SG +20% with only GCE 'N' level. +30% with only GCE 'O', +5% with only ITE, +10% with only Dipolma, 3% with only A level and 1% Graduate. 100 - 30 - 20 - 30 - 5 - 10 - 3 - 1 = 2 2% are MIW
Darkness_hacker99 SG I strongly disagree with this statement. I would never serve any political party and never want to be involve with govt politics,
TYING SG Are u an elite? When read the newpaper about the A level results, should know what type of students the govt is producing already wat.

The system hardly engages people in the learning process.
dragg SG i just heard from the news that kindagarten teachers need to have diploma in teaching in the future. they are required to go for english courses too.
ShutterBug SG I noted many PAP Kindergartens are closing because of low or lack of head count. Most are enroling in private and churches which is said to impart BETTER knowledge and better English education! It was said that most children who attended those PAP Kindergartens, end up speaking Mandarin more and are POOR in English. So, tell me... WHAT the FARK are they doing????
Darkness_hacker99 SG Firstly, I am not an elite. Secondly, If I am an elite, I would never serve the Govt. Pui.
chiabaliao SG And more and more girls are marrying non-Chinese as well. I can see what the trend is going to be. In fact the situation has reached a point where a China national will find it much harder to integrate into Singapore than any other nationals.
