I'm speaking up now because I've gone through NS,I am SICK of
the apathy of my generation,sick of how they leave things as they
are when they can be better.Don't fix it if it isn't
broken.Bullshit.Work at it and improve it for the future
generations to inherit.It can be better.I do NOT want my future
children to grow up in an environment where they are restricted
from living a full life as human beings,from being denied their
personal happiness and fulfillment.
I am sick of this society where so many people cannot be more
human,cannot have the civic and social responsibility towards the
community or themselves.
The PAP is good,I will give credit where credit is due,they have
rendered a great economic service to the Singapore people.They have
done an extremely competent job in administering and running this
country.They are a technocratic,highly-trained group of
administrators who are geared towards efficiency.They are very
intelligent and know what they are doing.
However,our political system needs a concrete balance against their
excesses,such as the investment losses incurred in Shenzhen and the
recent Shincorp debacle that cost us diplomatic relations with
Thailand to sour.Their influence and technocratic nature has to be
moderated.While they run a 'corruption free ' government,we all
know how it is.The judiciary cannot be trusted,especially in the
case of Lee Kuan Yew vs JB Jeyaratnam and Lee Kuan Yew vs Chee Soon
Juan, given the judges personal ties to Lee Kuan Yew.
There needs to be a greater political space,and it can be
maintained,with minimal corruption,as long as the correct people
are trained and chosen,and the quality maintained.
In a way,PAP has been good for the opposition,as the opposition
must be at least as good as the PAP,and the people will use the PAP
as a benchmark against future government actions.
However,it does not excuse their actions against us,the people of
Singapore.
