in severe pain from a slipped disc, and i had to wait 3 1/2 months before i checked myself in to the A&E

and there, the A&E doctor, screaming into the phone, could only get the specialist to see me about 9 days later...

Personally, of all their half-assed schemes, this Medisave is a real No-Brainer...!

They only know how to calculate how much you should contribute towards this 'medical funds', but the medical service in return is so damn MEDIOCRE!!

I rather pay for my own friggin Health Insurance Policy and be really REST ASSURED!!!

Anyone tried using it? If you have a minor medical issue it will work ok. But if you get critical, and you aren't financially well off, it's like opening your parachute in midfall to see laundry coming out over you!!

It's like squeezing the already poor for nothing in return...

these opt-out schemes remind me so much of our laws.. a lot of them have a presumption of guilt where you have to prove your innocence instead…

If you won't opt in, don't complain that you cannot afford to pay the hospital bills. If you already have a private medical insurance, you don't need Medishield and you can opt out. But if you do not have any medical insurance at all, without Medischield you are jumping off without a parachute.

And unfortunately too many Singaporeans are doing that....I agree with Khaw it is time to force them to wear a parachute.

There are plenty of specialists willling to see you immediately in private hospitals and clinics. If we want more specialists in the public sector, we have to be prepared to pay them more or engage cheaper specialists from India.

What do you expect the government to do? Imprison specialists within public hospitals?

nevermind... i could have gone to a private hospital, then filed for bankruptcy...

i could have gotten insurance too.. actually, i do.. but they do not cover stuff like that.. because i had a prior similar injury.. and lo and behold.. they do not cover such injuries either at that time... Laughing

oh well.. it is a sad sad world we live in... but hey.. like it was said, 66.6% of the people who voted let them do it Wink
