It has taken too long before the ugly side of politics is
revealed to voters. And it took the recent round of elections to
demonstrate the ridiculous policy of the ruling party.
With PAP-controlled wards, those respective constituents are
showered with upgrades of every sort, financed from the national
reserves.
Vote against them, in the case of potong pasir and hougang, and you
are left with meagre town council fundings.
In cases such as this, money talks, or rather the ENORMOUS amount
of kitty available to ruling party officials is exhorbitant, but
the more important question is really: have our ruling party
forgotten the meaning of graciousness and ethics?
By allocating funds ONLY to PAP-controlled wards, they are in
essence pointing out that the national reserves = PAP reserves,
denoting themselves as the government, rather than a political
party.
What kind of warped message are they sending out with the likes of
Ng Eng Hen, Wong Kan Sen and Mah Bow Tan repeating like robots that
funds only go to PAP wards and those who voted against them get
little more than a pittance.
Such irresponsible comments are what creates the conflicting and
dissenting atmosphere between the people, and PM Lee's post
election remark of 'uniting and moving on' seems more like a hollow
statement.
