Farmerseed SG

You still don't get the point do you?

PointBlue SG

This one looks very promising. You have a larger version?

Farmerseed SG

Simple trick.

Taken at a slower shutter speed (at around 1 second or lower) to capture the blurred effects of pedestrian. The subject was definitely still and the slow shutter was able to capture the movement of his fingers as clearly shown in a larger blow up of the photo

But the photo has been compressed and scaled down, most probably many times over resulting in a 'promising piece'.

I am sure PointBlue has long passed this stage in his photography skills Very Happy

M©+square SG

insecure…

amortifiedpenguin SG

at this location and time, (ped crossing bet tampines mrt & tampines mall, taken from the roadside, 2000hrs.) try setting up a tripod. not too possible. this shot is handheld. exposure time is 2’ or 4’ if im not mistakened.

PointBlue SG

This is a great pic, actually. I'm probably biased to say so since I'm a photoethnographer, and this scene portrays my specialty. Pity the compression though. Maybe amortifiedpenguin could post a better quality version for us to see?

Anyway, I'm still wondering why people are putting their pictures into Farmerseed's thread. Laughing

Farmerseed SG

I respect your point. You are at least well mannered and matured. Maybe they feel that i am a easy prey to walk over Question

Or was it that they lacked the confidence to start a thread of their own?

Farmerseed SG

No we want the actual photo properties tab details. If you can stabilise it with an older digital camera i suggest you should join the army as a sniper Laughing

PointBlue SG

Well, actually we shouldn't let anything get to our heads. As artists, it is inevitable that we would be subject to criticism from other peers, so the thing to do is to accept only the constructive and ignore the rest.

No worries about your photography, even the grand masters have their beginnings. Mr. Green

amortifiedpenguin SG

Nikon F601 scanned in from a film scanner. i thought it was quite obvious its film.

Farmerseed SG

You want me to scan my film photos and post it here? To show you that the blocks and interpolated pixels are the mark of films? Or was it compression and repeating scaling of the image both up and or down?

Farmerseed SG

But they keep flooding my thread...i was takin it positively by chasing the houseflies away Laughing

Chin Eng SG

I am sorry, I don't.
I thought the purpose was to show some of your snapshots. If I am doing it, I will expect comments (some say criticism). In reality, I don't think the comments were unkind, some are actually quite constructive.

The few comments I've made, I make them considering that fact that you do not wish to replace your hardware. So aside for a hardware change, it is a skills issue..... having said that..... if such comments are unimportant to you, I apologise for all the comments I've made.

Farmerseed SG

You should tell this to amortified Penguin. In fact i will tell him the same after seeing his photos. Besides amortified Penguin not only has this problem, he has problem with his attitude too. According to his posts he was expecting his own photos to be masterpieces and even dared to use it to bring forth his point in the discussion as if he is some genius. But to me the photos are nothing. The shots are so common taken on schools's sports day, during course work, teabreaks, on a late night home from school, in the school's toilet, on the way home from Tampines....

Why do you think that i will not know how to shoot at different angles? Have you read my postings on the very first page when i mentioned taking still life and scenery is my own recommendations for beginners since the objects tends to stay put and the shooter can take his time and take numerous shots of the same thing? What makes you think that i will not go read books and surf online for tips and sample photos of other photographers? A photo tells a lot so you can always learn from them. A photo tells a thousand words.

No one taught me how to sketch and i have enjoyed sketching for a period of time between 1990 ~1998 without attending any course or spent any money (except for the tools). I read books from other artists and look at their illustrations. A picture tells a lot and i can see very much of it will apply for a photographer at the beginner stage. The equipment will come later.

Perhaps the advices you guys have given are for intermediate and advance levels. Please save them for the intermediate and advance. I am a beginner for now and i am one who prefers to do it my own way. I am not rushed to reach any levels anytime soon.

All my snapshots have dates and photo datas so if you want to know how much i have progressed wait and see. Its too early at one photo a day to pass judgement.

For those of you who sincerely wish to help please start a thread of your own and post your photos and shooting tips there. Save the photo editing skills. I don't photoshop.

Why state the obvious when so many (as i can see now) were unable to see the unknown?

Laughing

Chin Eng SG

I didn't ask you to photoshop for the sake of photoshop. You obviously used some photo editing software to insert the text line. My suggestion is merely to ask you to tone down the color of that line by using the opacity tool so that your photo can appear in full glory.

You seemed to think that I've insulted you when I made some suggestions. Look, the reality is: you put your photos in a public domain, and in all honesty, I think most readers are polite. Of course I am not able to see what penguin has posted but I have no interest. It's afterall your thread and YOU are the focus. I am not interested in whatever beef you have with penguin.

So the reality check is: why did you do what you did?

Would you want a thread without comments? then say so.

Would you want a thread with only the praises? then invite only positive comments.

Otherwise, each one visiting this forum will form some opinions, and you do not have to be happy with any of them. That being the case, stop putting your photos for all to see.

... but what's going on now is, you do not seem to be able to take criticism (which isn't even really criticism) well.

Farmerseed SG

Obviously you still don't get it Laughing
Your request is a 'NO' from me, N-O no! Get it get it? No! Get out of my thread because you are not helping me a bit. Your tips are not helping me and if i go shoot photos like what youtell me it won't help me a bit get it?!

The reality check is

Sad
I only wanted to increase the activity rating of this forum Laughing
Get it get it get it do you understand oh my Lord

Now please start posting your photos in your own thread with your own shooting tips.
I know it will take a lot of courage but please do it like what Haoz30 and myself did.
Show us your photos Get it get it?
If they are good and are examples to follow i promise i will not pass comments the type i give for Penguin's photos Laughing

The aim of my thread is...just to share some of my snap shots....GEt it GET it Question

Farmerseed SG

Please if you want to drop a post or a request and the thread starter repeatedly ignore please don't persist. It irritates.

CEECOOKIE
CHIN ENG
NOMOOD
AMORTIFIED PENGIUN

This few are not helping at all..and first of all i don't know what they are but most of them their photos are just - so so. Except for Chin Eng and Nomood who have not shown their own photos, or that they have nothing to show?

How can you expect anyone to learn from you when you can only take so so photos? Photos so common you see when you are at the right place at the right time with the right equipment to capture the scene.

The only one here who can inspire (not teach) me with his photos is PointBlue but trust me i will never pick up his Photoshop habit even then.

Please go start your own thread with your own photos Laughing
