1. Is ASEAN Scholarship really a scholarship?
The figures here was at my time. It should be slightly higher now
but not too far different.
The annual "scholarship" is only a mere S$2,300. School fees are
FOC for scholars, which actually is very low even if you're not on
"scholarship". The S$2,300 is not even enough to cover my daily
living expenses - accommodation in a hostel cost me more than S$100
per week. (same price in Presbyterian Hostel and Anglican Hostel in
the East Coast)
I managed to secure Kuok Foundation Scholarship for my tertiary
education, and was given RM48,000. Now that's real scholarship -
not a mere sum of S$2,300. [/quote] S$2,300 is still
money, could have been given to Singaporean student. School fees
being free of charge is part of the package, isn't it? do you know
how much other nationals are paying to study in Singapore? did you
apply for it? were you forced to come to singapore? It was a choice
you made, but you are certainly a very ungrateful person.
Did singapore force you to stay put and study here? your
travelling document impounded until you complete your study here
isit? you said it yourself, if your grades are good or your parents
rich you can go elsewhere. Your choice is there, it is not a one
way ticket, just that you were not born with golden spoon and your
grades are pathetic. I wonder why singapore don't keep those with
good grade and kick people like you back where you belong.
Got chance to continue study in singapore still complain, YOU ARE
VERY UNGRATEFUL.
Did you school make you wear all white and pledge loyalty to
PAP? You are in Singapore, you came and occupied a place meant for
Singaporean, you are expected to sing Majulah Singapura, pledge
your loyalty to Singapore, like all singaporean! you think you want
to sing Nega Raku isit? What brain washing, need to respect your
host! You are really ungrateful.
Singapore do not accept students into medical faculty based on
the best A level results! I fully agree with the government
officer, Singapore should not offer subjects that require very
subsidies to non singaporean.
if you are good enough, go overseas.
If your standard is not good enough, why come here. Stay in your
kampung lah..
Choice of tertiary education is only limited by your grades!!
you don't have to choose Singapore universities, we have only 3
here and singaporeans need to study here. People like you don't
have to serve NS don't deserve to talk about opportunity costs
here.
Singapore government don't want to lock you up, singaporean don't
need people like you around. go away.
You must realise that life is not about doing business and
making money. I thought singaporean are too materialistic and know
nothing about art and music, now I know there are more money minded
people. You know singaporean, like Stephenie Sun, Tanya, JJ,
...could do what they like to do without conforming to your stereo
mind set of maturity. You must be very angry that your parents are
not rich enough to give you the choice to go where you like, but
you should not think that life is but making money. If you can
sing, and are really good, you can still go somewhere. Ya, but the
problem with you, is that your grades are not good enough, you
probably can't sing a song....selling things is pasar malam very
proud hurr....pathetic.
This I agree with you. Many singaporean don't study history and
geography, general knowledge is bad, but to say that they lack
analytical mind...you are not good enough to say that, based on
what you are posting here.
Yes, creative thinking is lacking among singaporean, but the
real high flyers are not constrained by the system. You need the
analytical mind to view the isse from different angles.
You made your choice to come and study here, or is it your
parents who made the choice for you to come here? should they
regret for the choice they made for you, or should they feel
ashamed for your ungratefulness?
naive and ungrateful, yes; talents, don't make me laugh.
Have you served NS?
