Needed Help In Selection of Car

Hi guys, i've spent 3 hours today just on reading all the chats of u ppl on cars' selection and specs. Well, i'm currently on a project and will be planning to get a car by Jun 04. I have a few questions in which i really need advise in.

1. I'm very interested in getting a S15 coz i enjoyed watching experts drifting on it.. (well, i've tried it out on my employer's Opel Combo 1.7 Dti) quite nice actually but i dun know whether it's consider a drift a not but i really did quite some counter-steering. I've seen regulars like [email protected] and etc commenting on S15 and most have agreed that R34 is a better car. May i know, wat is the biggest diff in these 2 models and wat are they good at?

2. I was told that Supra is a FR too but i've heard from you guys saying only A.T model avail in sg. Is there's a choice between these 3 cars, which would u guys choose? and why?

3. Is there any info on the price for P.I and how long do i have to wait till i get my car? Will it be cheaper then to actually buy it from authorised dealers?

hmmm..... R34 has about 300bhp stock, while S15 has 250bhp stock. R34 is 4WD, Silva is RWD. Mostly, the Skyline, esp the GTR, is the top of the range vehicle from Nissan, while Silva is a more affordable sports coupe.

Hi Daiki,
S15 is 250hp and Skyline is 280hp or 185kw and 206kw
Personally I would get a Skyline of course because it has more power, more torque. For Skyline, there are a few models, 25GT-T, 25GT and GTR these ranges are R34s. 25GT=non turbo and rwd, 25gtt=single turbo and rwd, gtr=twin turbo and 4wd. Although the GTR and 25GT-t have the same power, gtr has more torque than the 25gt that makes it faster. The 25gt model is a nonturbo, and the power is around 265hp. But there is no point owning a GTR in sg coz u have no place to run and most probably only can showoff with your car; lastly the price tag would probably turn people off. But if you really want a skyline, a 25gtt would be reasonable, priced not more than 140k for a second hand.
From what i heard from users in the forum, there are only auto supras in sg. But supra have been discontinued since early 1998, so just consider b4 buying. (skyline r34 discontinued on mid 2002)
Heard that a second s15 is not more than 110k, and a skyline 25gtt is not more than 140k.

i see.. Wat i saw most is R34 that u guys are talking about. How about R35 then? Wat i heard is that R35 is much too heavy though there's torque. But i think that it rounds to be the same. Laughing Anyway, i'm planning 150K to play with only. I was hoping that i spent max 130K for a silvia and invest the rest of the money into enhancing the 'inner beauty' I very much wanted a FR though coz i enjoyed the drifting.. yeah.. i'm more to a drifter than racer. Is there any tips to how i can improve on drifting? and wat are the steps to take note in when performing this stances?

Sorry! Embarassed Missed another question. Correct me if i'm wrong, Anti-Lag is actually an add-in so that there is something similiar to Fast & Furious kind of effect (Spit Fire from exhaust) right?? If so, are we allowed to get it in Singapore? Is there currently, any anti-lag that has a control switch over it? (Damn, i'm worried that if i go Vicom and the exhaust spit fire.... my car is a goner!) How much does a Anti-lag cost? can S15 install one? and wat are the BHP increment? okay...u CAN install an anti-lag system....it's allowed...but the anti-lag system MUST be used together with a straight-thru exhaust...which is ovbiously not allowed....if u use it with any other exhuast apart frm a straight-thru one...it'll be more sluggish instead of responsive and u'll damage the manifold oh and those stuff which u see fire frm the exhaust in fast and furious is fake....they used butane gas for this....yes the anti-lag does spit fire but its only for less than a second...something like "pop pop pop" HP increase? that i dunno but it'll make yr turbo as responsive as a Normally aspirated one and it's far ore effective and outstanding than a wastegate

get the JDM version o the S15. It costs $130k
from a friend who tuned cars in australia, he says the Silva can be easily coaxed up to 300bhp with a minimal of $5k worth of mods. The rest u can use to play with the asthetics and enhance handling.

Laughing Thanks for advise AE86tofu! Hmm.. now i'm wondering that even if i get the 4-1 (straight thru) Direct Out Exhaust, i can revert it back to original when i go inspections right? That moment of spit fire will only happen when i ram the car(Turbo Activate)

Mr [email protected], $130K P Import does it includes COE and taxes already? Where do u normally advise beginners like me to practise intense handling?

intense handling should be practiced preferably off the public roads. If you thus desire to do so many a circuit in Malaysia would do well to serve thy purpose. well u should be happy so many exp help u out with your gtr and s15 problem
basically one word of advice 4 u.
buy the car u really like most is the most important thing.
have u driven a turbo charged car b4, if not just be more careful okay as greater power comes bigger responsibility.
well for gtr normally people who afford buy a R34gtr vspec II
it is a better model than a normal gtr.
Gtr is powered by a computer controlled 4wd system which can distrubte the power quite equally to the t4 tires.
more over u do not have to buy those exp gauges for your gtr vspec series bcos some of the important gauges is already include in the car.
it is diaplay in digital so it looks cool 2
comparing hp betwwen s15 and gtr
the gtr will emerged as a winner .
Gtr is power by a six piston engine although the car is rather heavy,
the performance is good 2
S15 will be easier to handle than a gtr
okay for anti lag or so called misfired system,
yes it can be installed in your system.
i used it b4 but bear in mind
it really damage your muffler.
but it is rather noisy 2 bum bum bum pop.
and out comes the fire and theres goes a few litres of ur petrol
it consume a lot of petrol my friend if u use it.
it does not incres hp but make ur car more responsive

Yes, though R34 is a good car as compared to S15 for it's power. I very much wanted one (damn.. my car will be loaded with babes!!! Laughing ) but it's quite off my budget and i think it's quite costy also to get one.. Sad I've not driven in a turbo powered car before but i think i will go to an isolated road to try out the car first before i hit it on the roads...

Talking abt my budget.. well.. i put myself in high risk to get such returns... so.. i think i deserve something good after a hard work. Nah... i'm not a gigolo.. i know u guys are thinking of that. Wink Anyway, i've made up my mind on a S15. Yes.. i really appreciate all the pros here in helping me with the info i needed very much. Yes.. as [email protected] and Sky1977 said, anti-lag really damage the car if all the required parts is not loaded. As advised, i'm settling my S15 with a SuperCharger soon after i get the car.. s h i t ... still got 8 more months to go before i can see it.... Mr. Green Thank you for all the help. by the way , just read ur reply,
but i may have a piece of advice 4 u my friend.
how come u want to add a super charger to ur s15, as the engine is already turbo charged.
do not waste the money my friend . drive the car first and get use to the handling first.
As for the turbo boost pressure set it to 0.5 bar first to get the feel of the car and after u have got used to it u can boost up the boost pressure.
instead of adding super charger, u can use the money to buy other upgrade part as i personally things that super charger is not very useful in the turbo charged engine.
u can buy air intake system , racing cams or exhaust or extractor which will helps inb the performance of the car.
