most chinese outside china consider themselves overseas chinese. this is mainly because our ancestors were from china.

an article appeared in the straits times yesterday pertaining to the above.

according to the author africa are more needy of aid than china. but why are chinese donating to help china instead?

I dun mind donating, but, why can’t we donate to the locals first? I mean look at the govt, they rather sponsor throngs of Chinese nationals to come here to study in NTU, NUS, but yet, they are not willing to fork out money to pay for the total fees of the needy student. That makes me beg to ask this qn. Are those foreigners more important to them or we the locals?

Africa will never develop - most of the countries there have corrupt officials who grab 90 cents of your one dollar . They exploit their own kind and thinks that the world owe them a living . With this type of exploitation , I am starting to think poverty in Africa is a conspiracy to feed the fat wallets of the officials there.

One thing I don't mind is to donate money to Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF) . They do not give the money to the local people but instead fly healthcare personnel all over the world to assist in health and well being of the people in countries of trouble.

Frankly I rather just donate to Aussie charities now . They have to account for every penny they spend and they do it.
