You have now exposed yourself
totally as a Government lackey - despite your initial cowardly
claim of objecting to the methods and policies of the Singapore
Government - and after all the whipping received have decided to
stand clearly in the spotlight on the side of the Singapore
Government, and give up all forms of devious deception.
Yes, Singapore is a small nation and easier to manage - by
draconian means - and you will take advantage of this to further
exploit it.
What kind of education have your received to qualify a PhD ? And of
all place from Oxford to believe that Democracy and human rights
are not the way forward ?
The differences between those on the left and the right of the
political divide will never be resolved and some might say, are
absolutely necessary for a vibrant democracy. Obviously I stand to
the right of you. Between freedom and prosperity, I choose
prosperity. Rather than having the right to speak my mind, I would
rather have the right to education, jobs and to live in safety
without fear of crime. To me, the most important human right is not
freeedom of speech, but happiness, prosperity and
progress.
Now we can probably understand the
reasons for a dearth of talent in Singapore, when an educated
person will prefer to sacrifice the soul of idealism in exchange
for material gains.
Why should the Singapore Government complain about a dearth of
creative talent in 4.5 million Singaporeans, when none seems to be
a problem in any other similar size cities in Europe and USA
?
Even Tel Aviv with a smaller population can boast more artistic,
cultural and scientific creativity and intelligence than Singapore
- despite the ever imminent threats of sudden death and
destruction.
The government has brought Singapore 40 years of prosperity and
progress. Despite a vocal opposing minority, the fact that the
people of Singapore have chosen the same government in free
elections all these years indicate that the majority are happy with
it.
What majority are you talking
about when more then half the population do not get to vote, and
the incumbent ruling political party will unashamedly declare a
"Walk-over" ?
The actual numbers of Singaporeans participating in the last
general election had amounted to 1,222,884
persons from a population of 4.5 million - this can hardly form
the majority of Singaporeans casting their votes in support of this
Government ?
Even the recent Thai General Election was declared null-and-void by
the revered King of Thailand, when the opposition parties boycotted
the election, and most Thais in the urban areas declined to
participate.
40 years of progress and prosperity ?
Who is the biggest beneficiary of this progress and properity - and
able to legislate laws that pay out million dollar salaries ?
Surely not the Singapore Citizens, who have paid a high price over
the years, only to face retirement with a shrunken CPF that has
largely been sucked dry by the artificially overpriced public
housing.
The Chinese government is just as authoritarian as ever, but it has
lifted millions out of poverty (though many more still remain
deeply impoverished). The Philippines has democracy for many years,
but its citizens are no better economically.
Why does the Korean economy
remained vibrant despite its liberal democracy and tolerance
towards public demonstrations ?
Why are most of the ex-Soviet satellites states now prospering
after abandoning harsh rule of State Apparatus Control ?
Why was there total economic collapse in the Soviet Group despite
decades of firm authoritarian rule under te Communist System
?
Why are the economies of the African Continent continue to be
abject failures despite authoritarianism and international fundings
?
Is economic vibrancy the product of ethnic genetic talents and
abilities, or a product of political systems ?
It is plain foolish to believe that the continued authoritarianism
will continue to allow prosperity and progress to exist, when the
future is to be dictated by the clash of competing creativities and
intelligence.
The Koreans have abandoned their old way of firm authority under a
single leadership figure, and they are none the worse.
Their economy has blossomed and their industries are able to
produce more world beating products and renown household brand
names.
Can Singapore ever hope to be industrially innovative that can be
comparable to the Koreans ?
Why does the Opposition not do better at the polls? Why is CSJ
never successful with his talk about freedom of speech and
democracy? Because they have missed the plot. To borrow the words
of a successful politician, what matters MOST is not freedom of
speech, IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!
Are you stupid, or simply blind to
the way politics have been conducted in Singapore ?
If the Conservative Party had adopted the same manner in conducting
politics as the Singapore Ruling Party, it would not have lost the
election that allowed the Labour Party to entrenched PM Blair
through the last ten years.
If the Conservative Party had been able to have total control of
the British press and broadcast media, it would have starved the
Labor and Liberal Parties of any means of reaching out to the UK
population.
PM Blair would have remained as obscure as CSJ, and the other
political personalities from the Alternative Political Parties in
Singapore.
Is it merely the economy that kept the incumbent Ruling Political
Party to continue as the Singapore Government, or plain gutter
politics and sly political gerrymeandering with population ratios
adjustments to election boundaries, and total monopoly of all
communication media ?
Can mushrooms hope to know anything about politics ?
Are we stupid, or are you simply to clever to know of your own
stupidity ?
