For Police, it's literally Lan Lan. Cos they are governed by the
law, just like everyone else. Worse still, they have to enforce it.
Even if they do not like any particular law, if people contravene
it, they will still have to take that person to task. Even if they
feel sorry for the person. 
Go ask around, I'm sure those of you with policemen friends will
have stories of any given times when they feel sorry for certain
people [who are sometimes driven to drastic measures, even if it
means commiting an offence], but still have to take them to task
anyhow. Policemen are human too, you know. Unfortunately for them,
it is a dirty job, but one that they must do nonetheless. 
If you have any issues with any given law, do raise it up with your
MP. Unfortunately for most people like us, this is the only thing
we can do at our level.
