66.6%, are your happy now??
66.6% ?
Is the 66.6% votes representative of Singaporeans ?
How should we read the following statistics ?
From the Department of Statistics, the Total Population of
Singapore is 4,483,900 of which 3,608,500 are Singapore Citizens
and Permanent Residents.
In this population of Singapore Citizens and PR, those in the age group of 20 to 85 (and Above) will total
2,660,400 - this is the age group that is eligible
to vote (excluding those age 20 & Below).
From the Election 2006 Results:-
Total Eligible Voters : 2,158,704
Total Votes Counted : 1,123,273
Total Votes for PAP : 748,130 - 66.6% of Total Votes
Total Votes for Others : 375,143 - 33.4% of Total Votes
Total Votes Spoilt : 99,611 - 4.84%
Total in PAP uncontested Wards : 935,820
If the total number 748,130 votes given to the Ruling Party is seen
from the total population of elegible 2,158,704 voters, the
percentage of votes received by the Ruling Party is only
34.66%.
