U must be aware that the haze this yr seems more mild that the one back many years ago. The one then was about more than 200PSI. The one now is the most 100++. Thus some measures and steps must have already been enforced to ensure there is no burning of forest. But being a large country law enforcement is definitely more of a challenge. It is not like SG when 3ppls protest outside CPF building immediately got 40 riot police come and chase them.
Beisdes burning forest to clear land for various development works have existed for many centuries. If one remembers sec3 geography this is known as subsitent farming. In which the farmers burns the forest to clear land for plantations. Bcos those who have seen how thick the rainforest is, not your bukit timah. You will noe it is impossible to clear it by log-felling the trees.

you have ten years..i giv u ten years cut the bloody trees and build walls or roads or wide path ways in between...what better ways to spead the money and keep ppl employed? we can;t clar them all in a week , a month or a year..then let it be a generation's goal...make it a long tern goal for the country...make it a commitment!

The forests can be splitted into sectors:-

each sector will be separated by routes or clearing paths wide and accessible enough for land fire fighting vehicles. each sector named so that in the event of a fire they can be pin-pointed. in the event of a fire it will be prevented from spreading to other sectors since fuel and sources that feed the fires are cut off and contained withhin one sector.

as shown:-

jobs created and usable timber from the deforestation if not sold for a profit. it may not show results in a year but they just have to kepp it going. Who owns the land? the government of indonesia or private owners? if they want to profit from the land then they have to do a proper deforestation...and comply to ISO14001! hehe

LMAO... i was also talking about this remark from the vice president of Indo. imagine a vice president commenting that their president can oni "tick off" the regional ministers and cant do any better...

juz now i saw on TV news, dunno whether to laugh or to cry. they're showing clips of indo people putting out fires, and guess what? the teeny weeny little buckets and those people are like watering plants liddat. no wonder the fire so hard to put out ....

There are inhabitants at Batam so should they move off or be sgreans? I think its hardly appropriate. Even if we want land we will still consider very carefully the TYPE of land that benefits Sg both in short term and long term...more land does not mean a richer or wealthier country, it just shows more of the country's presence in the world map.

Get Indonesia to AGREE to following:

>> Allow forest firefighters and monitoring teams from various countries in the affected region to be permanently stationed in Sumatra and where hotspots are most common.

>> Give these teams, full access and authority to protect forests, as well as authority to book illegal fire starters

This haze issue has been around for a long time, other asian countries have even supplied financial support to help the stop the burning. Yet, till today this problem still persists.

Obviously the indonesian goverment is totally worthless. Sumatra and Borneo are just 2 states in their country, and they can do squat to keep them in control. What makes them think they can even run the whole country?

And when the head cleric of a publicly known terrorist organisation (JI) is allowed to openly support jihad and terrorisim, with not so much as a slap on the wrist, goes to show how much their goverment is actually in control.

This time, Singapore and Malaysia should join fronts and penalise Indonesia with economic and trade sanctions, maybe then they will start getting their act together. Evil or Very Mad

The haze is a problem during Asian economic crisis n it seemed as a country
Indonesia had problem keeping provices together considering it is made up

of hundred of ethnic group. On the surface, these ethnic group seemed to be able to get along together but it is not actually.

Indonesia's province is a training ground for terrorist n it is called Poso in Sulawesi.

The ones who suffer the most will always be the people. The entire govermnent should be replaced and corruption stamped out.

It will be a hard and rigorus process. But its better then letting things go on as they are now.
