Shin Corp has been hogging the headlines in Bangkok for several days now but none of it in ST.

wah se...after Suzhou Industrial park, now we have Sh|t Corp. 840m if spent on my estate upgrading i think can make my HDB estate the model estate in the world man....

I think the Thai authorities will definitely be very strict in their investigations (esp given the sentiments associated with sale of strategic asset to foreign ownership).
Better hope they don't revoke the whole deal, otherwise, we end up losing even more....

So how is Temesak going to recoup the amount spent ? Raise GST ? I shudder....

There are many areas to recorp the losses, one best way will be to

welcome more FT with investment interest and squeeze the public further
CPF, GST, COE, ERP, etc etc

Worse thing is Temasek either intentionally or unintentionally hid behind some proxy to purchase Shin. Either way, they are screwed. Even if the latter, they shd have made proper checks into Thailand's foreign ownership laws. It's their umpteenth time investing overseas and they should know better.

The Singapore government is rich enough to lose S$800 million dollars in one day, but is too poor to set up a pension fund amounting to no more than S$10 million for our elderly. Instead, Singaporeans are encouraged to work beyond the stipulated retirement age till they step into their graves. It is infuriating to see the corrputed Thaksin enjoying his golden years in London while our elderly continues to worry over mounting healthcare bills and loss of income.
