despondent SG

recently, the govt implemented a new type of system for the primary school students. they have seemingly abolished the streaming of primary 3 students, opting instead for a subject-based style of classifying students. wad do u tink of tis? will tis system move education in singapore to new heights? or is it gonna cause local education to plunge? air ur views here…

one thing for sure is that it’ll generate alot of confusion

ShutterBug SG

Our gov and their systems and policies are well known for making U-turns.

Never ever listen to public, and eventually have LPPL U-turn...

what's new man???

Abolish of the streaming system, no way

The streaming system is one that determines the elites from the commoners

The one that rules and the one who don't Twisted Evil

Abolish streaming and **P has a hard time to groom its puppets.

Sound similar to

2 babies enough - if you have more, you will suffer (n the 80's)

now they are trying to encourage more
3 good 4 better best if you can have a scoccer team Laughing

I believed someone with the foresight must have raise this issue years ago, but shot down by the shortsighted elites Twisted Evil

Wakus SG

I tell you what ah...

It will eventually backfire on them....unless they make the changes throughout the whole darn system then it'll be good...because shoving every single kid through the same kind of system isn't really the best way to do it.

Streming is one good way of course....
But to stream in terms of academic ability is a bit...myopic...

Every kid deserves to learn in their own way...

We all cant learn in terms of scholastics...as this will only produce people who are very good at reading but are clueless about people who experience...all they know is...reading is good...make mistakes bad...

the capacity for the system to allow people to make mistakes...thats the problem...

who wants to be teacher?

YEs, this is very true The JC system just changed into a messy system this yr ... and it is a mess. Schools are wonder, how to teach, how much to teach. MOE has failed to take note of wat's happening in the JC level, and plans to introduce a similar messy system in Pri sch ???

Are they blind or brainless .... ???

The system has not fail, else singapore will not be rank top 10 in international competitiveness.

It the people who are running the system. Ignorant to ackowledge such problem exist.... Rolling Eyes

Aiya.. I tell you lah...

It was, but do you think PAP will give credit where its due? If it does, I'll strike 4D the following week. Laughing

They like to change for the sake of changing.

It makes them seem like doing some work to justify their million dollar salaries. Laughing

i think the education minister is a piece of crap! Laughing

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Whether or not it will bring education in Singapore to new heights will depend on the students' ability to adapt. If they aren't, the policy is just an utter failure. If students are able to adapt, who knows, it might be better.

Today Digital Life published blogs on GEP being removed. Students don't seem happy with it. What do you think of Singapore's survival?

charlize SG

20 years down the road when the problem of overpopulation threatens to destroy Singapore, they will tell you:

You need a COE before you have your first child and every subsequent child. Laughing

ndmmxiaomayi SG

You think having a child is like buying car? Anyway, doubt it would happen.

charlize SG

What won't happen?

Having a child or buying a car? Laughing
