Thailand's Commerce Ministry sends Shin probe results to police

Thailand's Ministry of Commerce has completed its investigations into the sale of Shin Corp to Singapore's Temasek Holdings.

A senior ministry official says it has submitted the results of its probe to the police.

The reports quoted a ministry official as saying that the investigation found sufficient evidence to show that Temasek might have overstepped foreign ownership laws.

The probe was focused on whether Kularb Keaw - a partner in the deal - is a Thai company or a Temasek proxy.

In response to a query from Channel NewsAsia, Kularb Keaw says it has not received any formal notification from the ministry regarding its probe.

But it stressed that it had complied fully with all the laws and regulations in Thailand.

Temasek declined to comment, saying it had yet to receive a copy of the findings of the probe. - CNA/ch

So if the thais found out that there is illegal transferring of money from Temasek to a 3rd party to buy Shincorp. Who will be arrested? HO ching?

you are a little too optimistic to believe that we could get our money back. the money is with thaksin! temasek has itself to blame cos it should know that thaksin was planning to pocket the US$1.9b sale price without paying a cent in tax and yet it obliged him.

anyway, the amount is peanut to temasek.

btw i'm not gloating over this unfortunate turn of event. on the contrary, i'm feeling sad as it is all our money Crying or Very sad

agreed, i don't believe the thais will agree to a fair solution. it's probably because they believe that the situation was unfair for them during the sale under thaksin, so chances are they'll pocket that money, or at least list some terms to "punish" temasek.

I thought Temasek had taken all the measurements in aquiring the Thai Company.
