If one is to read the old Chinese classic like the "Water
Margin", which was only telecast on channel 8, no doubt it will be
realized that in history people do not stage a coup for no
reason.
A coup in the Water Margin protrayed a group of bandits who were
forced to become bandits simply because they were pursued by the
merciless corrupt regime of the time until they had no way to turn
except to join the bad hats in the mountain. At least that was the
story line in this show.
Song Jiang the rebel chief was actually a most law-abiding minor
official but he was framed for being a rebel for writing a stupid
poem during his drunken state by the local corrupt offical to gain
the latter's own promotion that finally he was forced to become a
bandit himself.
Wu Song and others were similarly forced to turn bad because of
corrupted officials who covered up the murder of his own brother.
Wu Song took the law into his own hand and killed the corrupt
official and had to flee to the famous Liang Mountain to join the
rebels.
In the modern days, there are not so many mountains but if people
are not treated well and were treated so badly they may come a day
when many finally had no way to go except to join the
rebellion.
