It looks like it will be "no-go" for our Goh, as ASEAN is backing Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai for the UN top post.

Will GCT look forward to such an "impotent" post as the UN Secretary-General ?

Even LKY had shuddered at the thought of himself being nominated to such a position, as he has become too accustomed to the monopolistic POWERS OF ONE, and could not possibly bear the laborious hours of talking from all sides, without any issues being resolved or making any headway.

Interesting article shows that regional grouping's backing is not as useful as the Big Five.

None of the Asean nations have a seat in the Security Council. It would be interesting to see who the Big Five back for the seat.After all, the voting weight is not equally proportionate I think.
