how can it be that singapore has (at least in my eyes) the most
ambivalent relations to that nations that would be and partly are
singapores closest allies ? On the one side is the malaysia, of
which singapore was once one part, so one would assume that two
states that were once one would work together because of the common
history and a very good understanding of each other, especially
when so many people have someone on the other side of the border.
Singapore and Malaysia are also very closely bound through the
Five-Power Defence Arrangement which alone should demonstrate how
dependant both partners are of each other, so that both sides
should recognize how important excellent relations between the two
countries.
the second country I would like mention here is australia, it seems
to me that australia is on one side very highly regarded when it
comes to topics like emigration und education. On the other side it
is sometimes postmarked as racist, american deputy and in my eyes
there are overreactions when australia criticizes singapore or
other asian nations. Australia is also part of the Five-Power
Defence Arrangement, shares the (in singapore coming) main language
with singapore and shares some parts of his history with
singapore.
In my eyes are australia and malaysia the most important allies for
singapore at least in asia, therefore I'm a bit irritated that the
relations between these countries often are strained because of
minor incidents. Because normally includes a strategic partnership,
which this three countries doubtless have, a relative soundless
resolving of disputes (p.e. I have never heard of any serious
diplomatic incident because of a canadian to be executed in the us,
canada will shurely do what it can to prevent that but it won't
risk the bilateral relations because of such a case and the us will
also try to keep it in the diplomatic circle and not to make it a
major national discussion).
What do you think is that just the way it goes in singapore or is
it a bit strange that singapore quarrels the most with it's closest
allies?
