Banana Yoshimoto's books.. start with [b]Kitchen.. then

if you want deranged books that are hard to read but once you get
the hang of it, it's impossible to put down, try Irvine
Welsh..
maybe start with Maribou Stork Nightmares.. short
stories to learn how he writes.. then move on his books
chronologically as he reuses some characters in them.. i would
think Trainspotting first...
then for satire with an irreverant and irrelevant sense of humour,
you can't go wrong with P.J. O'Rourke.. where else can you get a
man who researches "Tourism in Lebanon" and writes while in the
middle of an all-out Korean student riot?
Start with Holidays in Hell

Banana Yoshimoto
Manil Suri
Irvine Welsh
