SINGAPORE: 700,000 HDB households will get between $60 and $200 of
Utilities-Save, or U-Save rebates to help them with their utilities
charges.
Lower income families living in smaller flat-types will be given
higher rebates.
For example, those from 1-room flats will receive $200.
The U-Save Rebates will be given out in 2 lots - $100 next month
(July 2006) and the other $100 in January next year.
Households can also roll over unused rebates to subsequent
months.
The U-Save rebates, which will cost the Government $60m, are part
of the $2.6b Progress Package announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien
Loong in February this year.
The other components of the Progress Package, including the Growth
Dividends, the Workfare Bonus, the 40th Anniversary NS Bonus and
the CPF top-ups to the Special/Retirement and Medisave Accounts
have been given out from 1 May 2006.
